Yassi Pressman on reel- and real-life partner Sef Cadayona: "Nag-start out kami as best friends talaga...love ko na talaga 'yan dati pa.”

Yassi Pressman and Sef Cadayona go against all odds while fighting for their love in Kaleidoscope World

Nothing stands in the way of true love.

This may sound cliché, but for a boy and a girl fighting for their love against all odds, no words can be truer.

Reel and real-life couple Yassi Pressman and Sef Cadayona play star-crossed lovers in the movie Kaleidoscope World, one of the official entries to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) that will be screened starting December 25.

Yassi plays Elsa who loves dancing with a passion, even if it’s against her parents’ wishes. “Napaka-strict ng mga nag-aalaga sa kanya dito which is her tita and tito. Ang parents niya ay nasa States. At kahit po ipinagbabawal po siyang sumayaw, gumagawa po siya ng oras dahil yun talaga ang mahal niya,” Yassi tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

On the other hand, Sef is Lando whose life is complicated by his father’s death. “Si Lando ay isang dating mayaman, may tatay na nasa politics and then for some reason, nagkaroon ng anomalya sa trabaho ng dad ko, namatay yung dad ko. [Dahil sa] kayamanan namin na nawala, nag-strive kami,” says Sef.

In the course of discovering their love for dancing, Elsa and Lando fall in love with each other and find themselves fighting to overcome obstacles.

Off-screen, the romance between Sef and Yassi is far from being as dramatic. According to Yassi, “Kasi nag-start out kami as best friends talaga so parang nandun na rin yung basis namin for the friendship…na love ko na talaga 'yan dati pa.”

Does having a real-life relationship help them with their scenes during the movie’s filming? “May mga things na sini-share namin, kunyari emotions namin, tapos ilalabas namin on screen. Sa tulong po ng director namin at ng production staff [naibigay namin] yung dapat ibigay,” explains Sef.

In Kaleidoscope World, Yassi and Sef are joined by Alma Concepcion, Mayton Eugenio, Pia Pilapil, Alireza Libre, Brylle Mondejar, Arnold Reyes, and William Angeles.
