In a tight corridor, Sam Milby punches, kicks and fights his way among goons attempting to block his way.
Wearing a bright green suit, black long sleeves, and black pants, he looks every bit an executive but he transforms into a lethal enemy when the camera begins to roll.
Sam kicks up really high and he doesn’t even break into a sweat while doing it.
In Kimmy Dora (Ang Kiyemeng Prequel), the actor plays Rodin Bartoletti, AVP for Human Resources of the Go Dong Hae group of companies.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to witness Sam Milby in action at the SMX Convention Center located in SM Aura, Taguig City.
Eugene Domingo, the lead star of Kimmy Dora, was also present during this particular shooting day to talk about her movie, which is one of the entries competing in the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival.
Written and directed by Chris Martinez, Kimmy Dora (Ang Kiyemeng Prequel) is said to be the last instalment of the comedy franchise.
She is so impressed by Sam’s skills in doing action scenes that she has dubbed him as James Bond of the Philippines.
"Perfect siyang maging Pinoy James Bond—given the right script and the right time.
"Si Sam ngayon ko lang nalaman na napakahusay mag-action. My God, antaas-taas ng sipa niya!”
“Sabi ko nga, I hope the producers will discover what you can offer, more than being a heartthrob.
“My God, ang galing mo sa action! Sabi ko nga, you are perfection!”
The comedienne credits Sam for making her look good when they do action sequences together.
“You know he can sing. He can move very well and he can do action. Not all actors now can do action. He does it so easily. Naging mahusay akong mag-action because of him. Nagmukha akong magaling because of him. Yeah, nadala ako.
“I’m very lucky, very fortunate. He’s really an asset to Kimmy Dora 3. Very appropriate yung kanyang skills sa demands ng Kimmy Dora 3.”
PINOY JAMES BOND. When Sam was asked to respond to Eugene’s label for him as the Pinoy James Bond, he admitted, “Sobrang happy kasi for the longest time, gusto ko talagang mag-action...Happy rin ako sa feedback na binigay nila na magaling akong mag-action.”
In the movie, Sam works closely with the uptight Kimmy and the lovable Dora as they work their way to the top as building security guards, flight attendants, salesladies and fast food crew members.
"Ako ang in charge ng internship program nila [referring to Eugene's characters Kimmy and Dora],” explained Sam.
If he could choose, would he choose doing romantic projects or action flicks?
Dati andami. Noong FPJ [Fernando poe Jr.] times andaming action movies. Pero ngayon puro kilig movies, romantic comedy, comedy, horror pero pag action wala. Pero pag may action minsan yung tipong baril-barilan, suspense, pero action na grabe yung fight scenes…
“I feel I need to challenge myself in terms of doing those things… like kung kailangan magback flip ako… pwede. I can do back flip.”
Did he study martial arts in preparation for his role?
“Nagtraining ako with Coach Erwin Tagle of Ultimate Fitness, yung fight director. Dati I was doing a bit of Muay Thai and ayun nga, wrestling noong high school and a bit of karate sa college. And gusto ko talagang ituloy yung training sa Muay Thai.”
MEMORABLE BEACH SCENES. The dual characters of Eugene are both trying to win the affections of Rodin.
The trailer of Kimmy Dora (Ang Kiyemeng Prequel) shows a scene wherein Rodin is on a beach with Kimmy and Dora.
Kimmy pretends to be stung by a jellyfish and Rodin offers to suck the poison from her leg. He then bends over and he places his lips on Kimmy’s left thigh.
Not to be outdone, Dora pretends to drown and she is saved by Rodin who gives her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
According to Eugene, Sam‘s kiss on her thigh left a mark on her skin. Eugene even counted that Sam kissed her three times on this sensitive spot.
“It’s the best kiss!” she exclaims. “When I say it’s the best, it’s the best. And it’s not on the lips.”
How many times did Sam kiss her on her thigh?
“Tatlo! Tandang-tanda ko. Tatlo! Sabi ko bakit mo naman tinototoo? Sabi niya, ‘Well, I’m at the moment.’ Carried away!”
Eugene pointed to her left thigh as she recalled, “Nagkaano pa nga, e, nagka-mark. Nagka-mark?! The best di ba? Sabi ko talaga, ‘Woooh, the best!”
She quipped, “Hindi ko naman ni-request yun [referring to the beach scene]. Nagkataon lang talaga na best friend ko yung writer saka director [referring to Chris Martinez].
Turning serious, Eugene clarified, “No, it’s really in the script. Kasama talaga siya sa eksena. Hindi naman ‘yan biglang naisip lang. It’s really in the script and natutuwa naman ako na it came out really funny and sexy.”
