Derek Ramsay is “never bitter” towards an ex-girlfriend

Isabel Oli (second from left) is cast as the ex-girlfriend of Derek Ramsay's character in English Only, Please. She broke the heart of Derek Ramsay (rightmost), which prompts him to seek the help of Jennylyn Mercado. Tom Rodriguez (leftmost) is the guy being linked to Isabel's character.

Unlike his character in the movie, Derek Ramsay is “never bitter” towards an ex-girlfriend.

In English Only, Please, one of the official entries to the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Derek is cast as a guy who is rejected by his ladylove.

In the romantic comedy film, Isabel Oli plays Derek’s ex-girlfriend who is now going out with the character of Tom Rodriguez.

Derek is cast as a Filipino-American whom Isabel’s character left at the altar. He decided to write a hate-filled letter and he searches for someone who could translate it for him in Filipino. Through Skype, he auditions a number of applicants, and this is where he meets his leading lady Jennylyn Mercado.

When asked if he ever felt like exacting revenge on someone who broke his heart, Derek says, “I’ve never been bitter sa ex, no matter if I’ve been hurt. There’s no point. It’s just a waste of time.”

The TV5 actor adds, “If you really love somebody you want them to be happy. Kung yun ang gusto nila, basta happy sila.”

The hunk actor used to be the boyfriend of celebrities Angelica Panganiban and Cristine Reyes.
