Robin Padilla reveals Bonifacio grossed P10 million; calls upon Daniel Padilla fans to support his MMFF 2014 entry

Robin Padilla (left frame) calls on the fans of Daniel Padilla (rightmost) to support his latest movie Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo. According to lead actor Robin, Bonifacio cost around P100 million to produce but they have only earned around P10 million in the box-office.

Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo won the most number of awards but apparently, it has yet to win in the box-office.

Starring Robin Padilla, this biopic about Andres Bonifacio earned the most number of trophies at the 40th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal. Bonifacio won a total of nine trophies including Best Picture and the Gat Puno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award.

In his acceptance speech, Robin revealed details about the production cost of this period film set during the Spanish colonial era.

“Mga mahal naming kababayan.

“Nasa P100 million po ang budget ng pelikulang ‘to.

“Ang promotion po natin, ang binigay po sa amin ng mga endorsement ko, yung Smart, Revicon, Liveraide, nasa P150 million din po.

“Pag pinagsama-sama po, P250 million!

“Nasa P10 million pa lang po ang kinikita namin, bayan!

“Ito pong pelikulang ito ay para sa inyo, mga mahal naming kababayan.

“Sana po, pagkatapos po ng awards night na ito, hayaan niyo naman po kaming makabawi ng konti.

“Lalong lalo na po sa mga tagahanga ni Daniel Padilla!”

He also disclosed that they are planning to produce another movie about a hero.

“Sapagkat ang susunod po naming proyekto ay Gregorio del Pilar.

“Baka po wala kaming pang-produce nun!”

Going back to his current film, a biopic on the Supremo, Robin promised that his film will arouse nationalism and instill pride among moviegoers.

“Pinapangako po namin, mamahalin niyo ang pelikulang ito at mabubuhay po ang inyong pagka-Pilipino.

“Mabuhay si Andres Bonifacio!”

During the MMFF 2014 awards night, the romantic comedy English Only, Please was chosen as the Second Best Picture. Meanwhile, the comedy action film Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 emerged as the Third Best Picture.

On Sunday, December 28, Kris Aquino revealed that her horror movie Feng Shui was able to earn P88 million in the box-office. Meanwhile, The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, starring Kris’s son Bimby and Vice Ganda, was able to earn P172 million in four days.
