Jennylyn Mercado on Walang Forever co-star Jericho Rosales: "Ang kulit nito, very charming at mapagmahal"

MMFF 2014 Best Actress Jennylyn Mercado teams up with Jericho Rosales for this year's Walang Forever. Jericho says of his role, "Hirap ako, kasi ang tendency is to go heavy, kasi drama [ang forte ko]. Direk Dan Villegas helped me bring out [the lighter side of my acting]."

Not only is Walang Forever Jericho Rosales’ first time to be paired with GMA-7 actress Jennylyn Mercado; it is also his first lead role in a romantic comedy flick.

In Walang Forever, one of the official entries to the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Jericho plays Ethan, an ex-womanizer-turned-hopeless-romantic. He falls in love with a writer to whom he gives his all, only to be dumped in the end.

“Honestly, nahirapan ako sa role ko,” confesses Jericho. “That’s why I was so thankful kasi di ko nata-touch yung pagka-light ko sa screen. Ang tendency ko talaga is to go heavy, kasi drama [ang forte ko].”

Fortunately for Jericho, director Dan Villegas was there to guide him during filming.

“Direk helped me bring out [the lighter side of my acting]. Sasabihin niya, teka, relax lang natin. Mahirap rin sa akin magpaka-bitter; yung hindi maniwala sa forever, pero sa gitna nung [shooting ng] film, okay na,” says the actor who previously starred in the ABS-CBN drama series Bridges of Love.

Jericho stars opposite Jennylyn, who plays Mia, a writer who chooses career over love. Jennylyn recalls that she used to watch ABS-CBN actor in the TV series Pangako Sa ‘Yo, and hoped to work with the actor if she ever made it as an actress.

“Heto na yung tamang pagkakataon na makatrabaho ko siya,” she says, adding that Jericho is fun to be with.“Ang kulit nito, very charming, at mapagmahal, di lang sa co-artists pero sa buong production. Walang pinipili,” says the Kapuso actress.

"Napakasaya niya makatrabaho," Jericho says of his co-star.

Jericho first appeared on television almost 20 years ago, when he was discovered after winning Eat Bulaga’s Mr. Pogi contest.

In MMFF 2014, he was part of the powerhouse cast of Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo and played the role of Jose Rizal.
