As part of the revamp implemented in the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival, the MMFF selection committee placed greater emphasis on "artistic excellence" in selecting this year's 8 official entries.

Unlike previous years, commercial viability was not a major consideration in choosing the Magic 8 that will be shown exclusively in Philippine cinemas from December 25, 2016 to January 7, 2017.

One of the films that did not make the cut was The Super Parental Guardians starring Vice Ganda and Coco Martin.

Did Vice Ganda feel offended by those saying that their movie was not a quality film, which is why it was not selected to be part of MMFF 2016?

"After reading the tweets, I did not feel offended at all," said Vice Ganda during the November 22 media launch of this Star Cinema movie held at the Impressions restaurant, Maxim's Hotel in Resorts World Manila.

Vice Ganda continued, "The word quality is subjective.

When asked to comment on whether he thinks MMFF will survive even without his movie in the lineup, Vice Ganda responded by saying, "Siguro naman. Let's give everyone a chance.

"Let's be positive. Let's support them."

The ABS-CBN star gratefully recalled the times when his movies were included in the lineup of MMFF. "We were given a lot of chances before at huwag nating ipagkait sa iba."
