Richard Yap on the MMFF 2016 selection committee's criteria for choosing quality films: "I think it's not fair to say na pinili nila ang mas dekalidad na films. I think hindi naman matatalo yung film namin in terms of quality. I think it's just that their criteria has changed, what they want in this MMFF has changed."

Kaya sa tanong kung paano nila ise-celebrate ng kanyang pamilya ang Pasko, sabi niya, “Supposed to be, dito lang because of the MMFF.

“But now since wala na, hindi na kami kasama. I’ll be free so maghahanap muna ako ng puwedeng puntahan.”

Pag-amin niya, “Well, just a little bit disappointed naman, hindi naman yung sobrang ano...

“I think I’m a person who takes everything in stride naman.

“I think maybe it’s not meant to be this time, so…

“Pero baka, like they say, if a door closes, a window opens.

“So maybe this is another window of opportunity.

“Well, in a way, yes.

“Kasi siyempre, when you do a movie, you want na kumita naman yung, let’s say Regal [Entertainment Inc.], they’re the ones who produced this movie...

“Gusto rin namin na maging box-office [hit] ito because of, not only for us, also for them.

“Para naman people will keep on producing movies.

“But hopefully, it will still do well kahit na hindi siya nasa MMFF.”

ON MMFF REFORMS.

“Well, of course, it’s going to affect us also, because, like sasabihin nila kami mga mainstream kami, hindi kami indie, so of course it will also affect us.

“So magkaroon ng parang… hindi kami nakukuha because kasama kami sa mainstream, yung mga ginagawa namin.

“But we’ll see after this year. If it works, siguro they will continue, if not maybe they have to make changes also.”

“I think it’s not fair to say na pinili nila ang mas dekalidad na films.

“I think hindi naman matatalo yung film namin in terms of quality.

“I think it’s just that their criteria has changed, what they want in this MMFF has changed.

“Not necessarily the quality of the movie, because I think we did everything to make this as first class in terms of quality as possible.”

Paglinaw niya, “Well, I think it depends on the story pa rin, depende kung ano ang mao-offer.

“Pero kung maganda ang istorya whether it be indie or mainstream I think I wouldn’t say no.

“Basta maganda lang talaga yung story.”

ROLE.

“Well, in a way, medyo malayo siya because ang struggle kasi dito ni Wilson Wong is his closeness to his family.

“Medyo workaholic kasi siya so medyo malayo sa akin because I try to keep my family as close to me as possible.”

Workaholic din naman si Richard.

“In a way, pero I try to give them as much time and as much attention.

PROUD OF JODI.

“Well, I think, for her to be nominated is already a great honor as is.

“So, well, at least she’s broken the glass ceiling already for a Filipina to be nominated sa Emmy’s, di ba?

“So I’m very proud of her, for what she’s accomplished.”

NEW TELESERYE.

Sabi niya, “We are planning to do a teleserye next year but I can’t tell you the details yet.

“But hopefully, we’ll start taping by January.”

“Hindi ko pa puwedeng sabihin kung sino ang kasama ko dito, but it’s something that people will be very happy about,” ang nakangiting sinabi pa ng Kapamilya actor.

SECOND STARRING ROLE IN MOVIE.

“Yung iba kasi I was with Vice [Ganda sa The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin], kaming dalawa, and then yung kay John Lloyd [Just The 3 Of Us], ano lang naman ako dun.”

“Well, of course, I’m very honored to be considered the main character of the film, but I think this film is really about the story of the whole family—sa story talaga, sa aming lahat ito, hindi lang sa akin.

“Because everybody here has their own story so kanya-kanyang struggles din kami dito, tsaka kanya-kanyang triumphs.

“But I’m just, you know, so proud to be part of this.”

Bukod kay Richard ay kasama rin sa pelikula sina Jean Garcia, Jessy Mendiola, Enchong Dee, Jake Cuenca, Kean Cipriano, Janella Salvador, Marlo Mortel, Jana Agoncillo at Eric Quizon.

Ito ay sa direksyon ni Ian Lorenos.
