The four top grossing movies of the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival have been revealed by the MMFF Executive Committee.
This is based on the box-office gross of the Magic 8 on opening day, December 25, 2016.
These are (in alphabetical order) the comedy film Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2; the dramedy Die Beautiful; the horror film Seklusyon; and the teen romance Vince & Kath & James.
Eugene Domingo and Jericho Rosales topbill Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2 while Paolo Ballesteros is the lead actor of Die Beautiful.
In Seklusyon, Ronnie Alonte leads the ensemble cast of the horror flick and he is also part of Vince & Kath & James where he co-stars with Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.
The other entries in the 42nd edition of the MMFF are the live action-slash-animated film Saving Sally; the documentary Sunday Beauty Queen tackling lives of Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong; the political drama Kabisera topbilled by Nora Aunor; and Oro, the Irma Adlawan-Joem Bascon starrer inspired by the Caramoan massacre.

“THE MMFF EXECOM is happy to have reached our 1st day target ticket sales. We have re-assessed and set a new benchmark for this festival, we nevertheless look at the financial sales for the 1st day as a real bonus as we have already achieved what we started out to in the first place which is the cultural advancement through our Filipino films. You cannot put a price at something which the future generations of Filipinos will find priceless and ageless.
