Julia Barretto is not sure if her aunt Gretchen Barretto watched her 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Vince & Kath & James.
This Star Cinema movie also stars Joshua Garcia and Ronnie Alonte.
Last January 1, Gretchen posted on her Instagram account that she had a movie date. She disclosed that she watched Die Beautiful, which is another MMFF entry topbilled by Paolo Ballesteros.
Gretchen wrote in the caption, "First day of the year movie date & from the left @clarencejvillafuerte @rsfrancisco888 & I on the escalator doing shoe photo. we watched Die Beautiful.
Last December 26, the Barretto clan hosted a block screening for Vince & Kath & James that was also attended by Julia's mom Marjorie, sisters Dani and Claudia, cousins Cholo and Miguel and her grandparents.
During the January 7 bloggers's conference for ABS-CBN's new drama series A Love To Last, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Julia if her Tita Gretchen watched the movie.
The Kapamilya teen actress answered, "I'm not sure. I'm not sure if she has.
"We just got back from Japan so I haven't seen my family. Wala pa akong nakakausap from my family here since I got back because I went straight from work.
"So, I don't know. I'm not sure."
The 19-year-old actress admitted that she has not seen Gretchen's post about watching Die Beautiful.
But she remarked with a laugh, "Well, my family has the freedom to watch it if they want!
"But so far, a lot of my family members have already seen the movie and natuwa naman sila," referring to the block screening attended by the Barretto clan.
Julia said she was happy to meet GMA-7 actress Ryza Cenon who was present during the screening.
Ryza is the girlfriend of Julia's cousin Cholo.
Julia said about Ryza, "It's so nice of her for being super supportive and she's a really nice girl and she's very welcome sa family."
ON DAD DENNIS. Meanwhile, during the blogcon, Julia shared that her dad Dennis Padilla was able to see her romantic-comedy film.
It can be recalled that during the presscon of Vince & Kath & James, Julia said that she wanted to surprise her dad with her comedy scenes, especially since he is a comedian.
According to her, Dennis was satisfied with Julia's performance in the movie.
She narrated, "Happy siya sa film. Happy akong i-share ito kasi sabi niya, happy daw siya sa performance ko kasi comedy yun, di ba?
"So, paano niya papanuorin? Oh my God, matatawa ba 'to sa akin kasi siyempre baka mataas na yung standards niya sa comedy.
"Pero natuwa naman daw siya sa film at saka gustong gusto niya yung lessons ng film."
After Vince & Kath & James, Julia will be seen in the primetime series A Love To Last, which will air its pilot episode tonight, January 9.
In this Kapamilya show, Julia is paired with Ronnie, who played James in the MMFF 2016 entry.
