Eight-division boxing champ Manny Pacquiao is expected to make his Hollywood debut through the movie titled Brass Knuckles.
Fil-Am comedian Rob Schneider, best known for the comedy flicks Deuce Bigalow and The Hot Chick, will also be part of this upcoming movie.
In the Philippines, Pacquiao has appeared in several movies that he produced such as Anak ng Kumander and Wapakman.
Production is set to grind after Manny’s boxing match with Timothy Bradley scheduled on June 9.
In an interview with ABS-CBN North America News Bureau, movie producer Damian Perkins revealed: “We’re going to start shooting next month right after Manny is done with his fight [with Timothy Bradley]. We're going to work with him then wrap up post-production in August, September and the film should hopefully be out by the end of the year.”
In the said movie, the Sarangani Congressman is expected to portray a gangster. Schneider, on the other hand, will play the uncle of Pacquiao's character.
The movie producer added that Brass Knuckles will show viewers "what a bad choice it is to be involved with drugs.”
He further revealed: “Manny's got a good role; we're actually going to bulk up the role a little bit for him as well. More lines for him…Manny is also an actor, he enjoys acting. I've had the fortune and opportunity to sit down with him one-on-one at his home and talk to him about his script and talk to him about his.”
Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro and Mexican-born actor Jacob Vargas will also star in Brass Knuckles. Two-time Emmy Award winner Erick Geisler directs this action film.
