Mother Lily Monteverde is impressed with Maja Salvador in "My Kuya's Wedding"

According to Regal Entertainment, its family-oriented romantic comedy My Kuya's Weddinggrossed P3.7 million when it opened in theaters nationwide last August 29. ThisTopel Lee-directed film is the launching movie of young star Maja Salvador.

"Maja has made it!" says Regal Entertainment executive producer Mother Lily Monteverde. "We at Regal areall so happy with the good first-day showing of My Kuya's Wedding. It's avery big achievement for a young and a relatively new star carrying the movie.This is Maja's first lead role. She is just a beginner. We are all glad. We areso proud of her."

My Kuya's Wedding also gota "B" rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board. This GeneralPatronage (GP) movie features an all-star cast composed of Maja Salvador, RyanAgoncillo, Pauleen Luna, Jason Abalos, Dominic Ochoa, Say Alonzo, Frank Garcia,Ethel Booba, Janus del Prado, Ryan Yllana, IC Mendoza, and many more.

Among those who attended thepremiere night were Bong Revilla, Phillip Salvador, Senator Loren Legarda, andJudy Ann Santos.

Maja's co-artists at ABS-CBN alsocame to support her launching movie. Among them were Gerald Anderson, MattEvans, Melissa Ricks, and Denise Laurel. Executives and directorsfrom rival networks GMA-7 and ABS-CBN also sat side by side and enjoyed themovie, such as GMA Films Annette Gozon-Abrogar with her husband Lito, ABS-CBNbusiness unit head Deo Endrinal and ABS-CBN directors Cathy Garcia-Molina,Trina Dayrit, Erick Salud and others.

"We couldn't have done all thesewithout the help of many people," says Mother Lily. "A big thank you goes outto the stars and staff and crew, director Topel Lee, writer Allan Tijamo, allthe stars and celebrities who came to our premiere night, Malou Choa-Fagar and EatBulaga, and especially to the press people and both networks ABS-CBN andGMA-7 who supported Regal in all aspects from production to promo."

In connection with the impressiveperformance of My Kuya's Wedding, Mother Lily announces that she will begiving young stars their own launching films in the future. These lucky starsinclude Jenica Garcia, Mart Escudero, and Lovi Poe.
