Rights to "Foster Child" and "Slingshot" have been sold to UK and France

Brillante "Dante" Mendoza's two indie films, Foster Childand Slingshot, will soon be seen in the UK and France after the rightsto the film were bought recently by two foreign companies. These two films wererecently part of the "A Window on Asia" section of the Pusan International FilmFestival. The PIFF took place from October 4-10, 2007 in South Korea.

According to the movie website screendaily.com, PecadilloPictures struck a deal with Philippines-based Ignatius Films Canada to acquirethe UK rights of Foster Child. Inking the deal were Pecadillo's TomAbell and Kahloon Loke. The 35mmfeature film Foster Child stars Cherry Pie Picache, Dan Alvaro, Eugene Domingo, Jiro Manio, AlwynUytingco, and Kier Segundo as the foster kid. It was previously sold toFrance 's Ad Vitam at Cannes, and a February 2008 release in France is nowscheduled.

Meanwhile, Tirador (international title: Slingshot)has been sold to Swift Distribution for France and French-speaking Switzerland,Belgium and Luxembourg. Ignatius Films Canada negotiated the deal with DidierCostet for Swift, the same company that bought Dante's Masahista(international title: The Masseur).

The digital film Tirador stars Jiro Manio, Kristofer King, Nathan Lopez, and CocoMartin as small-time criminals who operate in the streets of Manila. Itsworld premiere took place in Toronto and is expected to play in Berlin 's Forumnext year.
