Jasmine Curtis Smith believes she was destined to be part of Cinemalaya entry Transit

“I’m so overwhelemed!

“I play the role bilang half-Pinay, half-Israeli na anak ni Tita Irma [Adlawan], isang OFW sa story.

“And I auditioned for the role talaga.

“Kasi kapag nag-audition ka, for me, I thought it’s an opportunity to show how serious I want to be as an actress. And talagang… learn more about the acting industry.

“Kasi…you can learn a lot having an acting coach sa set. Pero iba talaga kapag nagdi-depend ka sa sarili mo and your director to help you.

“And I found this as an opportunity to be more creative. To show my creativity na I have within...[to show] the artist's thought that I do posses.

“So… ayon, I just want to experience din ‘yong audition process.”

“Of course!” nakangiti niyang sabi. “About an hour lang naman tumagal ‘yong pagpila ko.

“Pero… patience is a virtue, di ba?

“And ako kasi, I think of it as… yes, pople know me as kapatid ni Anne Curtis.

“But I can’t rely on that. To make my name well-known na kilala as Jasmin talaga. Hindi lang kapatid ni Anne.

“Eto rin ‘yong way na makita nila ako not just as kapatid ni Anne, but as Jasmin the actress, the indie actress, the serious actress.

“This is my door na talaga, e. To prove that I have substance.”

But in fairness to her, kahit identified siya bilang kapatid ni Anne Curtis, unti-unti siyang nakikilala ngayon bilang isang promising young actress.

“Well, thank you!” sabay ngiting reaksiyon ni Jasmin. “I’m glad nakikita n’yo po ‘yon.

“I’m so happy!”

“Nakakatuwa na sinasabi nga ni Direk Hannah na I’m one to watch out for. Parang… ako talaga?

“I mean… she could have said… Ms. Irma [Adlawan], Ping [Medina], Mercedes [Cabral] or si Marc [Justine Alvarez], the little boy.

“Parang… woooh!"

"I feel the pressure na… I really hope throughout the film, consistent ‘yong pagdeliver ko. Ang pagbigay ng emotion sa lahat.

“Kasi… natakot ako in doing this film. Sabi ko… baka hindi ako dapat.

“At one point I said… maybe there’s someone more deserving. But then, when we were so close to everything being finalized, sabi ko… hindi, destined ako na piliin, destined ako na mag-aral ng Hebrew lines, lahat ‘to… it’s meant to be.

“So… gawin mo ‘to.

Na-inspire ako to do well.

“So I’m so thankful for all the kind words that Direk Hannah said about me.”

How is Direk Paul as their producer?

“So caring. He accommodated everyone. Like… we were family.

“Lahat talaga, he took the time to get to know. To take care of [everyone].

“Everyday, you would feel like… you were part of the team.

“I don’t care about it!” medyo natawang reaksiyon ni Jasmin.

“No! Of course not. Because, uhm… I’m very secure. I felt very secure in his hands.

“I didn’t feel like… may mang-iintriga naman. Kasi everyone on the team was just so easy to work with. Wala akong naisip na gano’n.

Sa magandang simula ng acting career niya, how does her sister Anne feels for her?

“Sobrang saya ni Ate para sa akin. Everytime I talk about it, sobrang engaged niya.

“Like me, sobrang thankful din siya na I did a project like this...na I was given this opportunity.

“So… when I was having the doubts of my capabilities before doing the film, sabi niya… alam mo Bagets [tawag sa kanya ni Anne], dapat talaga pag-aralan mo ‘yong lines mo.

“She was really motivating me.

"We’re living together sa house so talagang madalas, we talk about itong pag-aartista ko rin.

“And she was impressed that she doesn’t have to tell me to read the script before going to the set. Sabi ko… I don’t wanna go there not knowing what to do.
