Alden Richards works with Nora Aunor for short film titled Kinabukasan

Alden Richards says about his primetime show on GMA-7: "Intended naman po yung role na mas bata kay Carmela."

Pero aware din si Alden na, as teleserye lead actor, may mga expectations, o paghahambing sa kanya with the likes of Aljur Abrenica and Dingdong Dantes, or even Tom Rodriguez, na malalakas ang dating ng personalidad onscreen owing to their masculine appeal.
With Alden, tila raw may kulang dahil hindi niya mai-rehistro ang pagka-hunk na plus factor ng isang leading man.
"Yun nga po, e. As a leading man, may observations pong gano'n," bungad ni Alden sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
"Parang... gusto nila akong maghubad?" nangiti si Alden.
But the soft-spoken and mild-mannered young actor quickly reasoned out, "Intended naman po yung role na mas bata kay Carmela [referring to Marian's character]."
Bilang si Yago (Santiago San Juan Balaguer), ayon din kay Alden, made-develop din daw ang maturity ng character, physically or otherwise, as the story moves along.

COMFORTABLE WITH MARIAN.
Team-up po talaga.

THE DAY AFTER.

Alden Richards and Nora Aunor

PEP learned the ongoing shoot is for a short film titled Kinabukasan (The Day After).
"I asked Jerry Gracio [co-writer of Padre de Familia] to write the script," disclosed Direk Adolf.
"This is my first short film. I've never done a short film before; full length na agad ang ginawa ko when I started doing a film Donsol in 2006.
"Pare-pareho kami nina Ate Guy (Nora's monicker) at Alden... first short film namin ito."
Kinabukasan tells of a loss of a loved one, under unusual, trying circumstances. Nora plays a college professor, in deep emotional turmoil, until she gets to meet her dear departed's son.
Direk Adolf explained, "Kaya Kinabukasan ang title, the next day, after the libing [funeral] paano niya itutuloy yung buhay niya?

UNANG CARMELA. Nora reminded Direk Adolf and Alden that way back in 1973, she produced her first film titled Carmela under her own outfit, NV Productions, Inc. (later renamed NCV Films).
Alden, seemingly surprised at the coincidence, asked Ate Guy, "Ano pong story ng Carmela na ginawa n'yo noon?
"Horror... May nagmumulto, sarili ko yung nakikita ko..." Nora recalled, half-jokingly.
As far as her avid followers could remember, Nora had two leading men at that time, the late Jay Ilagan at ang noo'y baguhang teen actor named Rico Lopez. Carmela was helmed by the late Danny Holmsen, who directed many of Nora's starrers for Sampaguita Pictures.
Incidentally, ang short film nina Nora at Alden has seeming touch of mystery-suspense, like Carmela of the '70s, or insofar as the story's setting goes: an old, antiquated mansion outside the metropolis, giving it a creepy ambience.
Also cast in an important role is character actress, Rosanna Roces.

LUCKY GUY. Having done his initial scene with the Superstar, at habang inaayos pa ang set-up, nagpaunlak muna ng maikling panayam sa PEP si Alden.
"Biglaan po, actually.. ang bilis nga po, e!" the bedimpled young actor said of the immediate chance that came his way to do a project with Nora Aunor.
Alden enthused.
"Talagang kahit wala pang tulog. Nag-taping po kasi ako... kanina lang po ako na-pack-up," sabi ni Alden.

"Sabi ko sa GMA Artist Center [when the project was offered to me], kunin po natin ito. Sayang ito. Buti na lang po talagang..."
Alden considers the opportunity to work with Nora Aunor a chance too difficult to let go it overwhelmed him no end.
"Sobra po!" he exclaimed.
"Or another indie na full-length. Sana po."

"JITTERY" ENCOUNTER.
That was the night Brillante Mendoza's Thy Womb won major MMFF awards, including the Best Actress trophy for Nora Aunor.
"So, mas naging kumportable po ako, nung nakausap ko siya, nung nagka-eksena kami, for the first time."
Alden values the things he immediately learned from interacting in a scene with Ms. Aunor.
