Cristine Reyes reacts to Heart Evangelista’s grievances about Trophy Wife; changes sexy image to become better Christian

Cristine Reyes says about the sexy drama Trophy Wife: “For me kasi lahat kami dito bida. Walang maliit na role, walang malaking role.” This is in reaction to Heart Evangelista’s grievances about their movie, which is Rated R-13 without cuts by the MTRCB.

Cristine Reyes said she was not in a position to comment about Heart Evangelista’s grievances about their latest movie Trophy Wife.

In an exclusive interview published on PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last July 23, Heart admitted that she felt “upset” while shooting the movie Trophy Wife that also stars Derek Ramsay and John Estrada.

Heart said about this sexy drama: “It wasn’t really a priority kaya medyo na-upset ako na nag-drag on siya over a year yung shooting kasi I wasn’t very happy with the movie to begin with. Kasi maliit lang yung role.” She also said about her role: “Masyado kasi akong na-bored sa character ko dito sa movie na ito.”

When Cristine was asked to comment on Heart’s grievances, she said, “I’m not in a position to say anything.”

PEP then asked Cristine if she agreed with her co-star’s statement when Heart that her role “wasn’t challenging at all.”

Cristine answered, “For me kasi lahat kami dito bida. Walang maliit na role, walang malaking role.”

Would the ABS-CBN actress agree that Heart considers this project to be Cristine’s movie because the focus on the story was on her?

“Actually, parang ganun ang dating,” said Cristine in agreement. “But if you’re going to think of the bigger picture, it’s our movie.

“Kung wala siya, baka [isipin ng tao], same movie, another [infidelity] movie. At least ito, akala mo iyon na ang twist pero meron pa palang twist.

“I think we just have to watch the movie before we judge.”

Cristine was interviewed during a July 27 interview held at Krokodile Grill, Greenbelt, Makati City. Select members of the press, including PEP, had the chance to watch a preview of their sexy drama before it opens in cinemas on July 30.

The Kapamilya star clarified: “The story of [Trophy Wife] is the same. Ang nabago is yung atake ng director kasi different director. He has his own mind and his creativity.

“Kumbaga, sa artista, kung hindi ako ang gumanap dito at si Anne Curtis ang gumanap na Lani, iba rin ang atake niya, di ba?”

Trophy Wife, produced by Viva Films, was originally supposed to be directed by Elwood Perez but he was replaced by Andoy Ranay.

ON GIVING UP SEXY IMAGE ANEW. In the past, Cristine expressed her desire to veer away from sexy roles.

It will be recalled that in 2011, she was working on the ABS-CBN teleserye Reputasyon when she said that she was getting tired of being cast in sexy roles.

“Sana [wholesome image]. Gusto ko rin naman ng iba. Nagsasawa na, e, ako sa sexy roles. Iwan na natin sa iba ‘yon. Gusto ko iba naman," said Cristine during her 2011 interview with PUSH.

Now that she again expressed this desire this 2014, Cristine clarified: “Gusto ko na kasi talaga mag-iba ng path.

“Noong 2011 kasi, I don’t think it was the right time to do that.

“Pero now, I think it’s the right time to do that after this.”

The 24-year-old actress said she is doing this move to avoid being typecast.

“I’m not saying na ayoko na, ayoko nang mag-work. I’m saying na ayoko na yung nata-typecast na, ‘we need a daring actress, [get] Cristine Reyes.’

“Parang everyone is thinking of me like that na. I wanna be in another chapter of my career and do comedy, drama.”
