Sam Milby on his movie The Gifted: “Sana matawa rin ako sa sarili ko.”

Sam Milby describes his latest movie, The Gifted, as a "dark comedy." In the film, his character Mark is being pursued by two women: Aika (played by Cristine Reyes, middle) and Zoe (played by Anne Curtis, right).

Sam Milby is confident that his latest movie, The Gifted, will fare well in the box office.

The Kapamilya actor was both nervous and excited when he arrived last night, September 2, at the red-carpet premiere of this movie produced by Viva Films.

The ABS-CBN actor told entertainment reporters, “Kung dati nao-overwhelm ako nung binabasa ko ‘yong script, [ngayon] parang confident na ako.

“I felt the script itself is sobrang nakakatawa and maganda ‘yong kwento namin.

“Ngayon mas excited na ako to see the script come alive, to see the product.

“Siyempre, may halong kaba. I think ganun talaga, you have a little bit of nervousness.”

Sam felt that way probably because he didn’t think of himself as a comedian.

Although he has starred in several comedy films before, he’s still a little unsure about being a funny guy.

Good thing, he knew that the director, Chris Martinez, believed in him.

“Excited ako kasi sabi ni Direk Chris natatawa siya sa akin.

“Ako naman, siyempre, hindi naman ako ‘yong comedic person.

“I’m not really a lively, funny guy, so sana matawa rin ako sa sarili ko.”

He also said about The Gifted, which is currently being screened in cinemas, “Hindi naman first time na comedy [ko ito].

“But itong comedy naman kasi nito is kakaiba. It’s dark comedy, it’s a different kind of comedy.”

Joining Sam at the premiere night held at SM Megamall were his two leading ladies, Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes.
