John Arcilla will not be appearing in the controversial movie about General Miguel Malvar starring Manny Pacquiao.
Reports have indicated that Arcilla would be part of the film as Heneral Antonio Luna, his character in the highest grossing Filipino historical film of all time.
However, in a statement sent by TBA Studios to PEP.ph, it stated that “John Arcilla has never been approached to do this film."
The production company, which produced the 2015 film Heneral Luna, said that Arcilla reached out to them for "assistance regarding the matter."
TBA Studios also said in its statement: "There are restrictions involved and we were surprised he was name-dropped without permission. It's fake news."
General Malvar is known for taking over all Filipino forces after American soldiers captured President Emilio Aguinaldo in 1901.
According to Malvar's descendants, they were not approached by the camp of the boxer-turned-politician and the producers of the Malvar biopic.
Pacquiao has already started shooting for this film directed by Jose “Kaka” Balagtas, with a screenplay by Ed Samson.
