The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board has reclassified the indie film Metamorphosis after initially giving it an X rating.

The MTRCB gave an R-16 rating to Metamorphosis after undergoing a second review.

According to director J.E. Tiglao, the MTRCB allowed him to show his film uncut, without any need for him to remove any scenes.

Using his Twitter account, Tiglao wrote: "Nagtagumpay tayong palayain ang paruparo!

"From X rating to R-16 (16yo above are allowed to watch the film)! And we promise you that NOTHING has been compromised-- no shots or scenes have been cut. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nag-ingay at narinig nila tayo! #LabanMeta #MetaFilm"

Tiglao said in an earlier Facebook post that he would re-edit his film to remove some of the sexual scenes in order to meet the standards of the MTRCB.

This Cinema One Originals 2019 entry is a story about intersex people or people with both male and female sex characteristics.

Metamorphosis revolves around Adam, played by actor Gold Azeron. The 14-year-old lead character is born with both male and female genitals. While his parents prepares for him to undergo surgery, Adam explores his sexuality.

This coming-of-age film also stars Iana Bernardez, Ivan Padilla, Ricky Davao, and Yayo Aguila.

Metamorphosis is one of the eight official entries of the 15th edition of the Cinema One Originals Film Festival.

The film fest will run from November 7 to November 17 at the following venues: TriNoma, Glorietta, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Power Plant Mall, Gateway, UPFI, Cinema Centenario, Cinematheque Centre Manila, Black Maria Cinema, and Cinema '76 Film Society.
