Aniya, “So excited and soo fffffing wish we could actually go to NY for the North American premiere at the NYAFF but, nonetheless congrats to the team!
"Babae at Baril is available in the Philippines on Cignal Play streaming. I hope you get to see it. So proud to be part of this female-led team."
Sa isa pang Instagram post ni Janine, sabi niya, "So proud that this female team (female directed & written, female produced, female edited, female shot!!) has made it to the @newyorkasianfilmfestival and is the opening film!!
"So excited that Babae at Baril written and directed by @raeredcc is representing the Philippines in a festival that has, in the past, featured some of the most amazing Filipino films (that I love!!!) !!! (Erik Matti's Buy Bust, @red_mikhail's Birdshot, Mario Cornejo's Apocalypse Child)
"Happy that it will be available everywhere in the US through streaming and I can't wait for you to see it. I'm counting the pros because it has always been my dreaaaammm to attend international festivals and it's so bittersweet that the #NYAFF is only online for now, but that just means we'll have to make our own little red carpet / theatre / forum here.
JANINE ON HER FILM JOINING AN INTERNATIONAL FILMFEST
Sagot niya, "I'm really excited, kasi it's the first film na ako yung lead that is going to be part of an international film festival.
"At the same time, it's really kind of bittersweet because we won't be able to attend.
"Bilang artista, pangarap ko yung maka-attend ng red carpet sa ibang bansa to watch the other films and meet everyone who's part of the festival.
"I only kind of experienced it noong nagkaroon ng QCinema International Film Festival dito sa Pilipinas, kasi there were a lot of representatives from other countries. Pero iba pa rin kapag ikaw yung pupunta to represent yung bansa mo at yung pelikula mo."
Patuloy ni Janine, "This project is super close to my heart kasi hindi siya madali and ang ganda talaga nung kwento. It's something na I really pushed for na magawa ko.
"I'm just trying to focus on the positive na excited akong mas maraming makakapanood and sana, eventually, when things get better, ma-experience ko pa rin, pati na rin nina direk Rae Red at ng buong team, na makaikot pa rin kami with the film."
Saad niya, "I wasn't expecting it but I was hopeful. The whole team was hopeful na sana makaikot yung pelikula to show the story that's unique to the Philippines.
"I guess what surprised me most was kung saan siyang filmfests nakasali.
"Meron na actually, pero as of now we don't know yet the details and when are we taping because of the pandemic.
"I'm really looking forward to working again soon," sabi ni Janine.
