Christian Bables and Charo Santos won the top acting awards at the recently concluded 47th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal.
The awards night was held Monday night, December 27, at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura Premier.
Christian won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Big Night while Charo won Best Actress for her performance in Kun Maupay Man It Panahon.
John Arcilla was nominated twice for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his movies Big Night! and A Hard Day, but he won the award for his performance in Big Night!
Newbie actress Rans Rifol of Kun Maupay Man It Panahon bested veteran actresses Eugene Domingo and Janice de Belen, who were both nominated for their performances in the movie Big Night!
Big Night!, a socio-political movie about a beautician who suddenly finds himself in the drug-watch list, won the Best Picture for this year’s MMFF. Its director, Jun Robles Lana, won the awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay.
Kun Maupay Man It Panahon won Second Best Picture while A Hard Day bagged the Third Best Picture award.
Daniel Padilla received this year’s Jury Prize Award for his performance in Kun Maupay Man It Panahon.
