MINA'S HUMBLE BEGINNINGS IN MOVIE INDUSTRY

“Actually, I started in the film industry behind the camera, sa production management, production design. I did wardrobe styling.

“And then in 2015, I went to full-time acting, mas more on short films, independent film features. Very first is a short film, a thesis film called Dispacha, I played the role of a single mother na at the same time she’s a drug runner,” kuwento niya.

MINA ADMITS BAD BREAKUP TRIGGERED SEVERE DEPRESSION

At dahil nga tungkol sa mental health ang As The Moth Flies, tinanong namin si Mina kung nakaranas na siya ng anxiety o depression.

Pag-amin niya, “I did, pero I think yung pinaka-challenging na depression attack was, I actually had a bad breakup.

"And then I fell into a depression, and it actually came to a point na I wasn’t taking care of myself anymore.

“And then it came to a point that I felt that I had to do something about it, kasi I fainted! I just fainted along the street.

“'Tapos, merong stanger, kapitbahay ko siya, nagda-drive siya ng tricycle, who helped me para makauwi ng bahay.”

MINA SLOWLY SLAYS HER DEMONS

Nalampasan naman itong lahat ni Mina.

Dagdag niya, “Actually, parang sa sarili din. ‘Coz that time, parang if nobody will take care of me, I should take care of myself, or else parang something worse can happen to me.”

MINA URGES GOVERNMENT TO ADDRESS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

“Na there are some people na parang they had a depression and then nagawa nilang ma-overcome yun, so parang minsan they would say na, ‘Ako nga na-depress din naman ako pero nakayanan ko, bakit ikaw hindi?’

“When in fact, hindi lang siya isang emotion from a certain situation, there are cases na it is hormonal. So kailangan talaga ng understanding na there should be a treatment for it.”

MINA THANKFUL FOR FILM PROJECT

Aniya, “Kasi para it’s now a reason that, ‘Okay you have to go out because you’re already committed to this project, you’ve already given your word to the people.’

“So parang yung sense of responsibility also helped to push me to go out and start working.

MINA SHARES ADVICE TO PEOPLE STRUGGLING WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

Lahad niya, “Always have the confidence and the trust to talk to the people around you.

"And if you could get professional help, medical attention please do so and iyon, listen to your doctor, if you could find a really good doctor who could go on a really good treatment plan with you, please do so and listen to them.

“Kasi they’re the right people who knows what to do and trust na they always want what’s good for you.

“Lahat ng tao sa paligid mo, your family and your friends, gusto nila lahat maging maayos para sa iyo.”
