Sarah Geronimo points out why her character and the character played by Piolo Pascual have misunderstandings in The Breakup Playlist: “Kami kasi pareho kami dito na magkatrabaho kami, pareho kaming sumikat, magkasama kami sa success yun, pareho naming mahal ang music. Yung magiging conflict pala is yung pangarap din namin."

In the trailer of The Breakup Playlist, viewers can see that the character of Sarah Geronimo is being reminded by her mother (played by Rio Locsin) to finish her Law degree instead of being distracted by her music career.

In real life, Mommy Divine is also known to be strict when it comes to her singer-actress daughter.

How similar is Sarah to her onscreen character named Trixie?

LEARNING HOW TO LOVE. At the grand presscon held yesterday, June 23, Sarah also lengthily explained how The Breakup Playlist tackles the complexities of being in a relationship.

According to the Popstar Princess, the movie will show the value of being secure with oneself to be able to fully love another person.

“And sabi nga, paano ba ang magmahal?

You just simply love.

SIMILAR TO BEGIN AGAIN? Since their movie is "music-heavy," there are those who might compare The Breakup Playlist to the Hollywood movie Begin Again starring Keira Knightley, Adam Levine and Mark Ruffalo.

"Mas maganda siya sa Begin Again!”

This is what Piolo Pascual confidently stated when asked if their movie is similar to the film about a songwriter and a record executive.

To this Sarah added, “Ang similarities siguro katulad nung sa Begin Again yung karelasyon ni Adam si Keira.

“Yung boyfriend niya yung sikat, rockstar.

In The Breakup Playlist, Piolo and Sarah’s characters happened to be bandmates who’ll eventually fall in love and breakup.

Piolo plays the role of Gino, a lead vocalist who recruits law student Trixie (Sarah) to be part of a rock band.

Sarah further stated, “Kami kasi pareho kami dito na magkatrabaho kami, pareho kaming sumikat, magkasama kami sa success yun, pareho naming mahal ang music.

“Yung magiging conflict pala is yung pangarap din namin.”

DEALBREAKERS IN A RELATIONSHIP. On a personal level, Piolo shared what relationship issues usually cause a couple to breakup.

“Kung alam niyong hindi nagbebenefit yung isa’t isa sa relationship then it’s time to let go. It’s time to move on.”

For Sarah, she maintained that lack of respect from one’s partner is definitely a deal-breaker.

PIOLO AND SARAH’S PLAYLIST. Piolo further shared that the movie theme song “Paano Ba Magmahal?” (written by Jonathan Manalo and Yeng Constantino) perfectly captured the message that the film hopes to convey to moviegoers.

“Ang ganda pagnilayan nung theme song na ‘Paano Ba Magmahal?’ kasi very true, valid yung question, e.

“Paano ba magmahal? Paano ba talaga ibigay yung buong puso mo?

“The song speaks for itself. Kaya napakalaman lang ng lyrics.”

On a personal level, Piolo said that his favorite playlist definitely includes a lot of Coldplay songs.

“May tugtog ako kahit nasaan ako.

“For any given time, I go for Coldplay. It’s a relaxing playlist,” said Piolo.

As for Sarah, she believes that Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” perfectly describes her journey as an artist—from being Star For A Night’s champion in 2002 to today’s Popstar Princess.

“All time favorite song ko yun na naga-uplift ng spirit ko, nagi-inspire sa akin na patuloy na mabuhay, patuloy na maging inspired sa trabaho, sa karerang pinili ko,” said the Popstar Princess.
