Kim Chiu on doing mistress movie: "Merong eksena dun na hinihipuan...Ang hirap pala kumita ng pera!"

Kim Chiu said she had to unlearn "teleserye acting" while working with Etiquette for Mistresses director Chito Rono.

Now that she is 25 years old, Kim Chiu says that she no longer wants to do "pabebe" roles.

In Etiquette for Mistresses, Kim is cast as a lounge singer in Cebu who will be brought by her partner to live in Manila.

She will then meet Kris Aquino's character who will teach her the rules on being a "kabit."

"Ako si Ina. Entertainer ako dito, performer ako sa lounge," said Kim about her character in this movie directed by Chito Rono.

The 25-year-old actress said this project made her realize the challenges that singers face when performing in seedy venues.

"Sabi ko, 'Oh my God!' Ganito pala kahirap!'"

She revealed that there is a scene where customers touch the singer's sensitive parts of the body.

TELESERYE VERSUS MOVIE ACTING. Another big challenge for Kim was unlearning the "teleserye style" of acting that she has been used to doing for several years already.

YOUNG MISTRESS. Kim admitted that she hesitated before agreeing to portray a young mistress in a movie.

It has been nine years since she was proclaimed as the winner of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition in 2006.

She feels it is time for her to choose projects that will show her maturity as an actress.

"Parang it’s time for me to mature.

"Sa love, it’s about respect, attraction, choice and decision."

According to Kim, it was co-star Kris Aquino who helped convince her to accept the project.

"Parang it’s time for me to mature."

As for Kris, she considers Kim as her younger sister, which is why she often gives advice to her.

Kris pointed out, “My character kasi had to nurture the character of Kim and that is second nature to me. Kasi parati kong sinasabi na hindi man ako nabiyayaan ng anak na babae o younger sister, all in one si Kim.

"Kaya hindi naging mahirap in that sense [working with her].”

Aside from Kris and Kim, Etiquette for Mistresses also stars Claudine Barretto, Iza Calzado and Cheena Crab.

This Star Cinema movie is inspired by Jullie Yap-Daza’s best-selling book of the same title.
