After eight years, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo will reprise their popular characters as Popoy and Basha in the upcoming movie A Second Chance.
The sequel of One More Chance is helmed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, who directed the first film that was released in 2007.
The newly released trailer of this Star Cinema movie shows the romantic wedding of Popoy and Basha.
Popoy holds hands with Basha as he promised, "Pangako mamaya, huling beses na natin maghihiwalay.
"Ito na ang huling gabi na mayroong ikaw at ako."
Details about their wedding are shown including a monogram logo of their initials P & B.
Popoy vowed, "Simula bukas, ang mayroon na lang ay tayo. Tayo habang buhay.
"I will never let go...10, 11, 12, 13, 14 [years]...forever and ever."
After Popoy and Basha declare their love for each other, Erik Santos' rendition of "I'll Never Go" is heard in the background.
It will be recalled that the song was also used in the 2007 film.
There is also a scene wherein the couple are seen in bed together with them still holding hands.
Despite their sweet promises to each other, the married couple are shown going through a rough patch. Popoy even becomes violent as he is shown breaking plates and throwing an object against a wall as Basha looks frightened.
FIRST TEASER. Last August, fans were able to get an inkling of the story that depicts the struggles being faced by Popoy and Basha who have been married for the past eight years.
The teaser started with a scene from the 2007 movie where Popoy (John Lloyd) and Basha (Bea) were optimistic about their future as a couple.
Years later, the two were interviewed and asked how it is to be married. Popoy answered "masaya" while Basha just smiled.
The next scene would show that Popoy and Basha were intensely arguing over a work issue.
The wife discovers that her husband has not paid yet their utility bills.
Popoy then shouted at Basha, "Sige ikaw na lang, ikaw na lang ulit!"
This line brings to mind the original movie wherein Basha pleaded with Popoy to be his girlfriend again, saying the words, "Ako na lang, ako na lang ulit."
Their fight brought both of them to tears, and Popoy added: “Hindi ko alam kung tama bang nagkabalikan pa tayo.”
But by the end of the teaser, the two had patched up things, with Popoy saying sorry to Basha as he held her hand.
Bea and JLC were previously paired in the 2012 movie The Mistress and ABS-CBN teleserye A Beautiful Affair, during the celebration of their 10th year as a love team.
