Are John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo willing to do sequel of A Second Chance?

Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz are still willing to do a third installment of the movie. However, John Lloyd clarified that the story of Popoy and Basha must deserve the third part while Bea wishes to do it eight to ten years from now. A Second Chance will be screened in Europe via VueCinema.

John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo are very overwhelmed by the success of their latest drama romantic drama, A Second Chance.

In just seven days, this movie has already earned 325 million, according to Star Cinema.

Bea said during the digital media conference yesterday, December 2, that she’s happy to see the warm reception of moviegoers to the film.

“Well, it’s overwhelming. Parang mahirap maniwala agad, nakakalula.

“But we’re very happy na tinanggap siya ng tao ng ganito and parang we’re very happy na hindi nagkamali ang lahat sa paggawa ng sequel na ito.”

John Lloyd, on the other hand, said that he was shocked to witness the movie’s success.

“Nagulat talaga kami kasi it’s a different story to tell, so sobrang lahat kami…

“Well, I’m gonna speak for myself. Ako, especially noong natapos na, very skeptical sa magiging reaction ng audience kasi hindi ito yung glossy Star Cinema film na usually na napapanood mo or pwede mong asahan.

“Kung alam niyo lang yung naging process ng lahat sa paggawa nito. Talagang kakabahan ka.

“It was a very personal process para sa aming lahat. Masaya.

“After noong takot or gulat, very happy na ngustuhan din yung end product. Siyempre doon naman tayo talaga nakatuon.”

Given the strong performance of the movie in the box office, are the two already expecting to earn awards?

John Lloyd answered, “Grateful kung ano man yung mangyari pa from hereon.

“Ako nga okay na ako, e. Sabi ko naman talaga, ikinagulat ko na kung ano man yung success na tinatamasa, not because I had little faith with the film ha, hindi dahil dun.

“It was a challenging story to tell the audience, e. Ako talaga I’m quite impressed that it turned out.

“Especially sa audience na parang talagang nakakagulat kasi yun yung worry namin, e, kung maintindihan ba nila or magugustuhan ba nila.”

Meanwhile, aside from the box-office figures, Bea wishes that the movie will not be easily forgotten by the moviegoers, same as the effect One More Chance had with the Filipino audience.

THIRD CHANCE. With the success of A Second Chance, moviegoers are hoping the producers will do a third installment.

It will be recalled that this movie continues the love story of Popoy and Basha, which began via the 2007 movie One More Chance.

Personally, would Bea and John Lloyd want to be part of the third installment?

John Lloyd remarked, “Hirap kasing sagutin kasi eight years ago when we did One More Chance, after pinalabas siya, hindi naman talaga napag-usapan or naisip, e [na magkaroon ng part two].

“Pero ngayon, it’s getting strange kasi parang meron talagang tao na Popoy and Basha ngayon.

“Parang ang hirap naman ipagkait especially pag meron na siyang audience at meron na talagang Popoy at Basha sa horizon, parang mahirap nang ipagkait sa audience natin.

“Kung deserving pa, material na deserving at papayag pa sila na magsulat [Carmi Raymundo and Vanessa Valdez] at kung okay pa si Direk [Cathy Garcia-Molina], why not?"

Bea, for her part, said, “Ako siyempre, gusto kong magkaroon ng third installment itong story ni Popoy at Basha pero nase-stress na silang dalawa [pointing to Carmi and Vanessa]!

“Hindi, siguro kung gugustuhin ko mang magkaroon ng Third Chance, eight years from now ulit, or ten, kagaya nitong nangyari sa sequel.

“Siguro iba na yung pagdadaanan nila, siguro mas matured na kami, mas matatanda na kami.”

ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio recently announced that A Second Chance will be screened in Europe theaters this December via TFC: The Filipino Channel’s movie arm “TFC@theMovies.”

One of the daring scenes showed Bea (who had just taken a shower) having a love scene with John Lloyd inside a cabinet.

The 28-year old actress said that it was really her who did the scene, and no doubles.

Bea joked, “Unfortunately, yes!

“Oo, [pero] blinock ni Direk Cathy yun. Medyo mahirap lang kasi nakikita yung undergarment ko.

“Kasi supposedly bagong ligo, di ba? Dapat wala pero blinock ni Direk yun pero nakailang takes din.”

A Second Chance and Star Cinema’s resident scriptwriter Carmi Raymundo said that they already have plans for Bea and John Lloyd’s next projects.

Though she is not yet allowed to divulge any details, she did disclose that Star Cinema is planning separate projects for the love team.
