Eugene Domingo plays an independent woman in "Demetria"

In her upcoming film Demetria, Eugene Domingo will play a single woman who is finding difficulty settling down.

Duringthe 35th birthday celebration of John Lapus, PEP (Philippine EntertainmentPortal) was able to talk toEugene Domingo regarding her upcoming movie. Eugene is set to appear in her solo movie, Demetria, under VivaFilms. Eugene will be working with Direk Wenn Deramas and scriptwriter MelMendoza-del Rosario.

"It is about a single woman nanalilipasan na ng panahon. Hindi naman babae lang ang napapaglipasan ng panahon," saidEugene regarding what she loved about the script of Demetria. She saysthat they have not finalized who will be her leading man in this movie.

Currently, they haven't started shooting for the film sinceDirek Wenn is still busy with other projects. "Meron pa akong Kim Samsoon at may tinatapos na sinu-shooting sapelikula. I'm not in a hurry," saidEugene. In the GMA-7 romantic comedy Ako si Kim Samsoon, Uge (Eugene'snickname), she plays the role of Chef Dina, the head chef of the restaurantwhere Kim Samsoon works. The title character is played by Regine Velasquez.

In addition, Eugene is part of the indie film 100, directed by Chris Martinez, which is competing in the 2008 Cinemalaya full-length feature category. The awarding ceremony of the said film competition is scheduled this Sunday, July 20, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Withregards to Demetria, which is officially the launching film of Eugene,Direk Wenn said, "Viva ang magpo-produce ng Demetria, at happysiyempre ako. Parang lumaki sa guidance ko as a direktor ang pangalan ni Uge,di ba?"

GMA-7 is said to have big plans for the comedienne andEugene is very happy for this because it is an opportunity and a blessing.

When asked what would she do if she were to be pittedagainst ABS-CBN's comedy queen, Ai-Ai de las Alas, she said, "Hindi ko namantalaga kalaban si Ai-Ai kasi magkaibigan kami. Walang personalan saamin."

With all the opportunities she was given, Eugene feels veryblessed to have survived this long in this fickle industry. She idolizes Dolphyand Gloria Romero for the hardships they underwent before they becamesuperstars.
