After Pangako Sa ‘Yo, the tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will topbill a new movie under Star Cinema.
This time, the KathNiel film will be directed by acclaimed director Olivia M. Lamasan.
This was announced by Star Cinema during the appreciation lunch for Pangako Sa ‘Yo earlier today, April 6.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Kathryn divulged that 90% of the movie will be shot in Barcelona, Spain.
She also expressed her happiness upon knowing that Direk Olive, or “Inang” in the industry, will helm their new movie.
“Mukhang maraming preparations kasi alam namin si Inang, bihira siya gumawa ng pelikula,” said Kathryn who recently celebrated her 20th birthday.
“And sobrang pasasalamat namin dahil tinanggap niya ang project na ito.
“We are very thankful kasi pinaghahandaan talaga ng lahat itong pelikula.”
For his part, Daniel says he is counting on the veteran director to guide them in this new project.
“Hindi ko naman masasabi kung ready ako pero I’ll do my best. Gagalingan namin ni Kathryn.
“Siyempre nandiyan naman si Direk Olive para gabayan kami sa lahat ng eksena namin.
“Hindi niya kami titigilan hangga’t hindi niya nakukuha yung gusto niya. Talagang excited din kami doon.”
Direk Olive is the original creator of Pangako Sa ‘Yo, which was originally topbilled by Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa.
The 2015 adaptation featured the KathNiel love team along with Jodi Sta. Maria, Ian Veneracion, and Angelica Panganiban.
It was also Direk Olive who directed the pilot week of the adaptation.
The Teen Queen and King also disclosed that they will leave the country by May to shoot the film in Barcelona.
They are both set to take up Spanish lessons to prepare for their roles.
This is the seventh movie of KathNiel after doing 24/7 in Love (2012), Sisterakas (2012), Must Be Love (2013), Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay (2013), She’s Dating the Gangster (2014), and Crazy Beautiful You (2015).
Meanwhile, Direk Olive helmed the successful romantic-drama movies Sana Maulit Muli (1995), Got 2 Believe (2002), The Mistress (2012) and Starting Over Again (2014).
Direk Olive also serves as creative consultant for some teleseryes produced by Star Creatives, the TV arm of Star Cinema behind the primetime shows Dolce Amore and The Story of Us.
