ABS-CBN actor Jake Cuenca bagged another acting award for the indie film Mulat (Awaken).
This time, the Kapamilya talent was named Best Actor at the World Cinema Festival Brazil 2016.
In addition, Mulat also bagged the Best Narrative Feature award at the said film festival.
Mulat is a psychological thriller directed by Diane Ventura. The film features a love triangle between a mysterious woman named Sam (played by Loren Burgos), her fiancé Vincent (played by Ryan Eigenmann), and her new man, Jake (played by Jake Cuenca).
In the film, Jake finds himself clashing with Vincent when he falls in love with Sam, who is described as a woman with a "strange mental affliction."
Meanwhile, Ventura's other film titled TheRapist (starring Marco Morales and Cherie Gil) was also part of the short film selection of the film festival.
World Cinema Festival Brazil will be held on May 28, 2016 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Copacabana, Brazil.
In his Instagram account, Jake congratulated the cast and crew who made the film possible. He wrote in the caption: "To God be the glory. congratulation to everyone involved in this movie and congratulations to my director @mariadianeventura."
This is not the first time the film brought home major awards from a film festival.
Jake won the Best Actor award while Ventura bagged the award for Best Director for a Global Feature at the 2014 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM).
The movie was also part of the New Wave category of the Metro Manila Film Festival in 2014.
