The Third Party has grossed P110 million worldwide, according to Star Cinema.
Angel Locsin, Sam Milby and Zanjoe Marudo star in this movie about an unlikely set-up of a love, an old flame and second chances.
The global box-office figure was announced by Star Cinema on November 3, 2016 through its Instagram account.
Directed by Jason Paul Laxamana, The Third Party revolves around Andi (Angel Locsin), a woman who is still not over her ex-boyfriend and high school best friend Max (Sam Milby). After some years, their paths cross again and Andi hopes that this becomes the perfect time to rekindle their romance. Her hope crushes after Max introduces her to his partner Christian (Zanjoe Marudo).
Andi is ready to move on again until in an interesting twist of fate, an untoward incident forces her to run back to Max and asks if she could live with him and Christian. As Andi tries one more time to win back the heart of Max, Christian is determined to do everything to keep him.
During the blog con for this movie, the lead stars were asked which is more painful: to be replaced by a straight person or someone from the same-sex?
Sam answered back then, "Kung mahal mo, parehas masakit pero if my girlfriend left me for another guy, mas mahirap mag move on."
Zanjoe admitted, "Mas masakit kung pinagpalit ako sa lalaki.
He then quipped, "Pag sa babae ako pinagpalit, liligawan ko ang babaeng pinagpalit sa akin!"
For her part, Angel explained, "Ang love wala naman yan sa gender.
"Hindi ka masasaktan sa gender. Masasaktan ka dahil hindi mo na pwede mahalin ang taong mahal mo.
"Sa akin, same impact yun."
The Third Party, which is graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board, earned P10 million on its opening day.
