Paolo Ballesteros had mixed emotions upon finding out that Enteng Kabisote 10 was not included in MMFF 2016 while his other movie Die Beautiful was one of the official entries.

Paolo Ballesteros had mixed emotions regarding the inclusion of his movie Die Beautiful in the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival.

This is because his other movie, Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers, failed to make it to the final list of entries.

Both movies were submitted for consideration to MMFF 2016.

Paolo admitted in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters at the November 25 bloggers' conference of Enteng Kabisote 10 that he was shocked when the film starring Vic Sotto did not make it to the Magic 8.

He said, "Same as with everybody else na mixed emotions na yung isang film ko nakapasok, yung isang film ko hindi nakapasok.

"Parang medyo shocked na, like what Bossing said, tradisyon na kasi natin yung Enteng Kabisote, e.

"Di naman aabot ng 10, di ba? Biglaang ganon so medyo na-shock. But anyway, masaya pa rin kasi siyempre, nabigyan ng chance."

Does Paolo feel that it is a blessing in disguise that Enteng 10 did not make it so that Die Beautiful would earn more?

The TV host-actor answered, "Ay, hindi naman, of course.

"Kasi kasama rin naman ako sa film na ito, e. Same efforts din naman yung binigay ko here.

"Siyempre, as much as possible, sana lahat ng efforts ma-recognize."

Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers opened in cinemas yesterday, November 30.

In this movie, Paolo is cast as one of Enteng's (Vic) sidekicks who dressed up as Lola Tidora, Paolo's character in Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye segment.

DIE BEAUTIFUL. Paolo was also asked how he felt when he found out that Die Beautiful made it to MMFF 2016.

It can be recalled that this movie won the Audience Award at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). Paolo also won as Best Actor in the film fest held in Japan.

Paolo said, "Ang gusto lang naman namin is mapanuod ng Pilipino and there's no other way to show it here unless isasali nga namin sa MMFF.

"So we were just so happy that we were included, we are given the chance to show our film sa mga Pilipino."

Does he think that his movie has an advantage since it already won international awards?

The 34-year-old TV-movie personality responded, "I'm proud of my films, pero iniisip ko na siyempre, competition yan, pare-parehas lang na magagaling.

"Parehas lang [katulad] sa Japan, sa TIFF, pare-parehas na magagaling so paano mo iisipin na, 'Uy, mas mananalo ako dito. I think patas-patas lang kami."

Since he already won an international acting award, does this mean that Paolo is now more choosy in accepting roles?

He then revealed that he has always been choosy with his projects since his priority is the noontime show Eat Bulaga.

"Always naman akong choosy kasi ang priority ko is Eat Bulaga. So every project that I do, kailangan papasok ako ng Eat Bulaga.

"And isa pang factor na kino-consider ko, for example, yung mga make-up transformations, ako lang naman gumagawa nun lahat so talagang choosy ako dahil ako yung mapapagod.

"So lahat ng projects na ginagawa ko, yung worth ng pagod. Otherwise, kung hindi naman, huwag na lang."
