Charo Santos-Concio is nominated for Best Actress at the 2017 Asian Film Awards.
This was announced in Hong Kong earlier today, January 11, by Hong Kong International Film Society executive director Roger Garcia.
ABS-CBN's Chief Content Officer is nominated for her performance in the Lav Diaz film Ang Babaeng Humayo.
Lav is also nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay in the 11th Asian Film Awards.
The Filipino film known internationally as The Woman Who Left is about a woman imprisoned for decades for a crime she didn’t commit and is out to exact revenge.
The four-hour movie is inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s short story God Sees the Truth but Waits.
It can be recalled that Ang Babaeng Humayo won the Golden Lion trophy in the prestigious 73rd Venice International Film Festival in September 2016.
The awarding ceremony for the Asian Film Awards will take place on March 18, 2017 in Hong Kong.
