Vilma Santos and Senator Grace Poe are some of the new members of the Executive Committee in charge of the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival.
This was announced by Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Tim Orbos who is the concurrent head of the MMFF.
The representative of the 6th District of Batangas was invited to serve as a juror in MMFF 2016 but she declined due to her hectic schedule.
It will be noticed that Marichu Maceda has been reappointed to this year's MMFF Execom. In 2015, Maceda was embroiled in the Honor Thy Father controversy that led to a Congressional probe.
It surfaced during the investigation that Dominic Du and Marichu Maceda were identified as those behind the instructions to disqualify Erik Matti's Honor Thy Father from the Best Picture category.
Both Maceda and Du disputed this, claiming they merely informed the jurors about the nondisclosure violation of Honor Thy Father.

It will be noticed that writer-producer Moira Lang and academician Edward Cabagnot were not reappointed to the Execom of the 43rd edition of MMFF. They were both instrumental in introducing the radical changes implemented in MMFF 2016.
Through Facebook, Cabagnot expressed his gratitude for being given the chance to implement "revolutionary changes" in last year's edition.
He wrote: "Congratulations to the incoming MMFF ExeCom members! I am supremely grateful and honoured to have been part of the "Change" edition of this yearly celebration of Pinoy artistic excellence in cinema. The #reelvolution proves once and for all that Pinoy audiences everywhere are ready for AND deserve only the best fare.
"Moira and myself shall continue to monitor the evolution of the festival from the outside and make sure that this year's edition shall build on last year's revolutionary changes.
"Mabuhay ang MMFF! Mabuhay ang #reelvolution!"
