Iza Calzado was named Best Actress at the recently concluded 2017 Osaka Asian Film Festival.
She was cited for her performance in the pyscho-thriller film Bliss directed by Jerrold Tarog.
The 34-year-old ABS-CBN actress personally received the Yakushi Pearl Award at the film festival's awarding ceremony on Saturday, March 11, at ABC Hall in Osaka, Japan.
During her acceptance speech, Iza dedicated her triumph to her late parents Lito Calzado and Maria Antonia Ussher.
"Thank you so much to the Osaka Asian Film Festival for this award. Thank you to the jury members, for selecting me.
"I am very happy and proud to represent my country, the Philippines, and our film Bliss.
"Thank you to my director, Jerrold. Thank you to our Filipino crew for all the moral support.
"I share this award with all the other brilliant performers who are part of the other films especially Alex.
"I would like to say a special thank you to my parents who are watching above in heaven and I feel their presence.
"And thank you so much for motivating me to continue honing my craft and being an actor."
Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual sent his congratulatory message to Iza via an Instagram post.
His caption reads: "Our very own @missizacalzado accepting her award as best actress for the movie Bliss by Jerrold tarog at the recently concluded Osaka Asian film fest 2017 congrats B! You made us proud :)"
The film festival was held in Osaka, Japan from March 3 until March 12.
The other Filipino films included in the film festival's main competition were Sigrid Andrea Bernardo's Kita Kita starring Empoy and Alessandra de Rossi, and Borgy Torre's Tisay starring Nathalie Hart and JC de Vera.
