Nora Aunor, Vilma Santos, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Jaclyn Jose lead Best Actress nominees for The Eddys

The Eddys awards night on July 9, 2017 at the Kia Theater. The nominees for Best Actress are (top row) Nora Aunor, Jaclyn Jose, Vilma Santos, Ai-Ai delas Alas, and (bottom row) Charo Santos, Rhian Ramos, and Hasmine Killip.


The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEED) announces its set of nominees for their first entertainment awards for films called The Eddys.

The Eddys is one of SPEED’s major advocacies since its inception in 2015.

They will be awarding the best films and filmmakers covering the period of January to December 2016.

Leading the nominees for Best Films are Pamilya Ordinaryo, Ang Babaeng Humayo, Everything About Her, Saving Sally, and Die Beautiful.

In the acting category, the frontrunners for best actress are Superstar Nora Aunor for Tuos, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos for Everything About Her, Queen of Comedy Ai-Ai delas Alas for Area, Jaclyn Jose for Ma'Rosa, Charo Santos-Concio for Ang Babaeng Humayo, Rhian Ramos for Saving Sally, and newbie Hasmine Killip for Pamilya Ordinaryo.

At the June 10 presscon, SPEED president Isah Red, Entertainment editor of Manila Standard, said that the father and son tandem of Edu Manzano and Luis Manzano will be hosting the awards night this coming July 9 at the Kia Theater.

Confirmed to perform during the event is Anne Curtis of It’s Showtime.

Special awards will be given to the King of Talk Boy Abunda (Joe Quirino award), award-winning director Lav Diaz (Manny Pichel award), and Regal Matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde (Most Active Producer of the Year).
