Was that Kim Kardashian on the red carpet?

Nope, it was Paolo Ballesteros who once again transformed into a Hollywood star for the 40th Gawad Urian.

The Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino handed out the coveted trophies during the awards night held last night, July 20, at Studio 10 at the ABS-CBN compound.

In the 2017 edition of this award-giving body, Vilma Santos received the Natatanging Gawad Urian, making this her 12th trophy from the MPP.

In the Best Actor category, Paolo was able to defeat fellow nominees Tommy Abuel (Dagsin), Garry Cabalic (Paglipay), Ronwaldo Martin (Pamilya Ordinaryo), Khalil Ramos (2Cool To B 4gotten), Bembol Roco (Pauwi Na), and Pepe Smith (Singing in Graveyards).

Paolo was recognized for playing a trans woman in the 2016 Metro Manila Film Fest entry Die Beautiful.

When Paolo went up the stage to receive his Gawad Urian trophy, he told audiences: "Oh my God! Ang gwapo ni John Lloyd!"

The Eat Bulaga host ran towards John Lloyd who was also onstage as a presentor. Paolo then hugged the stunned ABS-CBN actor.

Ever the comedian, Paolo started his speech by saying, "Naninikip ang dibdib ko. Masikip yata ang bra."

When the laughter died down, he continued: "Sa Gawad Urian, salamat sa muling pagkilala. Sa buong Team Die Beautiful. Sa manager ko. Sa mga Dabarkads ko sa Eat Bulaga, maraming salamat sa pagsuporta. Sa family ko, thank you for always being there."

After Paolo delivered his speech, John Lloyd approached him and gave him a tight hug.

The Gawad Urian Best Actress trophy went to Hasmine Killip but she was unable to attend the awarding ceremony because she had given birth in the U.K.

She was cited for her portrayal of a mother desperately looking for her child in Pamilya Ordinaryo.

Hasmine was chosen over other nominees: Nora Aunor (Hinulid), Irma Adlawan (Oro), Ai-Ai Delas Alas (Area), Angeli Bayani (Ned's Project), Jaclyn Jose (Ma'Rosa), Elizabeth Oropesa (Mrs.), Cherry Pie Picache (Pauwi Na), Charo Santos Concio (Ang Babaeng Humayo), and Precious Laila Ulao (Women of the Weeping River).
