John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo both admitted that they had to downplay their expectations in terms of box-office sales of their fourth movie, Finally Found Someone. John Lloyd reasoned out, "Di mo masasabi kasi, e. Depende 'yan sa tao."

The Sarah Geronimo-John Lloyd Cruz movie Finally Found Someone earned P20 million in the box-office on its opening day.

The movie's first-day gross was revealed by Star Cinema through a post on its official Instagram account.

In the film, Raffy (John Lloyd) takes on the PR case of April (Sarah). She became known as #ChosBride because of her crying video that went viral after being stood up at the altar. Raffy does everything to fix April’s heart in order to fix his life, but feelings get in the way.

During the movie's premiere night, Sarah and John Lloyd said they cannot predict if their fourth movie can match the success of their last film It Takes A Man and A Woman in terms of box-office sales.

Finally Found Someone, which opened on July 26, serves as the silver screen reunion of the AshLloyd tandem after their 2013 film It Takes A Man And A Woman.

The latter is the third part of the Laida-Miggy movie trilogy of Sarah and John Lloyd, which started with A Very Special Love (2008), and was followed immediately by You Changed My Life (2009).

On the other hand, Finally Found Someone is a brand new story that is not related to AshLloyd's first three movies.

It Takes A Man and Woman broke box-office records in 2013 when it had a total gross of P387 million throughout its run.

In an interview with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters during the July 24 premiere night of the film, John Lloyd admitted that he had to downplay his expectations regarding the outcome of box-office sales.

He reasoned out, "Di mo masasabi kasi, e. Depende 'yan sa tao.

"Kung ano man ang maging resulta, it would be a good learning experience kung paano ba mas makakausap pa natin ng mas mabuti ang audience natin. Kasi talagang sila ang magsasabi, e.

"Yung expectations namin siguro, downplay talaga. Kailangan i-downplay, kailangan i-manage dahil ang totoo, kahit anong pelikula pa yan, kahit gaano kaganda pa yan o sa ibang issue, kahit di siya ganon kaganda pero pag tinangkilik, tinangkilik."

For her part, Sarah hopes that people will also support this new movie in the same way that AshLloyd fans and moviegoers watched their first three films.

She said, "Ako, siyempre, umaasa na tangkilikin katulad ng kung paano nila sinuportahan yung tatlong pelikula namin.

"Pero ako, masaya na ako, masayang-masaya na ako kasi nakita kong maganda."

The Popstar Princess also admitted that she missed watching herself and John Lloyd on the big screen.

She gushed, "Nakakamiss, e! Nakakamiss na mapanuod si Laida at si Miggy, si John Lloyd at si Sarah and while watching the movie, nanunuod ako as a fan so I'm happy, happy lang while watching."

Was Sarah able to adjust and let go of her Laida character now that she is portraying a new role?

John Lloyd admitted that he is glad that he and Sarah explored a storyline different from Laida and Miggy's.

He said, "Medyo mahirap talaga, yun yung challenge, e. Ano ba, itutuloy natin yung kwento nila o gagawa tayo ng bagong kwento?

"Pero mas bumoto talaga ako dun sa bagong kwento, kasi parang it's about time kasi may tuldok na yung kwento nilang dalawa, e, ni Laida at Miggy.

"Siguro mas mahihirapan kami kung susundan pa namin kaya ito, napunta rito kay Raffy at kay April."

Finally Found Someone, co-produced by Star Cinema and VIVA Films, is directed by Theodore Boborol.

Theodore, who is also called Direk Ted by colleagues, helmed the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Vince and Kath and James.

The movie also stars Christian Bables, Alwyn Uytingco, Joey Marquez, Yayo Aguila, and Dennis Padilla, among others.
