Finally Found Someone director Theodore Boborol (not in photo) on John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo: "Pero na-realize ko, kahit sa supporting actors naman, when the camera is not on them, they stand under the heat of the sun, or kahit wala naman silang ginagawa, they go there, they stand there and they support their co-actors."

Director Theodore "Ted" Boborol admitted that even he was starstruck by certified box-office stars John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo in the movie Finally Found Someone.

But the bubbly director said it didn’t take long for him to feel at ease working with his film’s lead stars.

Direk Ted is known for helming two other Star Cinema films, Vince & Kath & James (2016) and Just The Way You Are (2015).

Recalling their initial shooting days together, Direk Ted pointed out, “The reason why they are superstars in the first place is because they are professionals.

“Kasi I felt intimidated at the start because they are already John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo.

“They have three box-office movies in their belt.

“Pero na-realize ko, kahit sa supporting actors naman, when the camera is not on them, they stand under the heat of the sun, or kahit wala naman silang ginagawa, they go there, they stand there and they support their co-actors,” the director elaborated.

Direk Ted went on to say that he was glad to learn that both John Lloyd and Sarah are no divas on the set of their film.

“Kasi nag-TV series din ako, may ibang actors na—nanlaglag pa—umaalis na kapag hindi na nila [eksena].

“So yun, dun ako pinakana-amaze.

“Kasi sometimes ako yung ninenerbyos.

“Kasi minsan [yung ibang stars] may mga diva demands—like for example, ‘O,  under heat of the sun, [bigyan ng] payong, payong.’

“O kaya, ‘Bakit niyo pinatayo diyan hindi pa naman ano?’ Ako yung naga-ganun.”

To his surprise, it was not the case when it comes to John Lloyd and Sarah.

“In fact, na-shock ako, si Lloydie ayaw niyang patawag na Sir—John Lloyd lang, Lloydie lang. Besh lang.”

Direk Ted was interviewed along with John Lloyd and Sarah at the digital conference for Finally Found Someone held at 9501 Restaurant in ABS-CBN’s ELJ Building last July 20.

BANKABLE LOVE TEAM. John Lloyd and Sarah have established a bankable teamup via the franchise movie A Very Special Love (AVSL) in 2008, which was followed by the sequels You Changed My Life in 2009 and It Takes A Man And A Woman in 2013.

Avid fans of the duo fell in love with the story of Laida Magtalas, a dewy-eyed fresh grad who landed her first job as a personal assistant to her larger-than-life big boss and long-time crush Miggy Montenegro.

These two unforgettable onscreen characters became a couple, broke up, and reconciled in three movies that earned Star Cinema a total of about P785 million.

With the popularity of their love team, the challenge lies in offering something “different yet also familiar” to the onscreen couple’s moviegoing fans, according to the director.

For its first-day gross, Finally Found Someone earned P20 million in the box-office, according to Star Cinema.

NEW CHARACTERS. In Finally Found Someone, John Lloyd plays a top PR exec Raffy tasked to do damage control over a budding politician’s disastrous no-show on his wedding day. The bride? The guileless and well-loved teacher Aprilyn, played by Sarah.

How different are their characters from the AVSL movie franchise?

“Eto hindi, it’s just his PR world and kung bakit siya nakarating dun.

“Malinaw yung conflicts niya.

“Tsaka, this guy can dance!” JLC said with excitement.

Sarah also went on to explain the differences between Laida and Aprilyn.

The 28-year-old singer-actress elaborated, “Si Laida kasi naïve.

“Ang edad niya dun early 20s, tapos high school pa lang crush na niya si Miggy.

“Yung character ko as Aprilyn, mas same age kami.

“She’s in a relationship. Parehas silang, may pagka-idealistic.

“Pero si Aprilyn, open siya sa reality.

“Basta sabihin mo yung totoo, kakayanin ko, basta magpakatotoo ka lang.”
