Jake Cuenca jokes about his masturbation scene in the Cinemalaya 2017 entry Requited: "Kailangan, e, kasi pumayag si Anna [Luna] sa hotdog scene."

Jake Cuenca openly talked about his masturbation scene in his Cinemalaya 2017 entry Requited.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to interview Jake exclusively during the premiere night of his indie film held last night, August 8, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Requited, written and directed by Nerissa Picadizo, is a romantic tribute for the love of biking and to crossing over the hurdles of unrequited love.

Jake reacted to those who criticized this movie, which he co-produced himself.

"There were some people who couldn't understand because they were expecting a love story but it really isn't.

"The ending is very unpredictable. There are certain situations that you sometimes don't plan and it happens and you live with regret because you did something incredibly wrong and apologize for it."

As a producer, did he have any input on the story or did he modify some scenes?

"No, this is my director's script. As a producer, I'm just here to help her.

"Hindi ko na binatikos ang script."

He pointed out that he would have wanted to polish the film further.

"There are certain things we wish we could have fixed. But then, it's an indie. Very limited rin ang time and budget but I think we came with an okay film."

In the film, Jake's character Matt embarks on a biking journey with Anna Luna who played his beloved named Sandy.

What made him agree to do a masturbation scene in this biking movie?

He joked, "Kailangan, e, kasi pumayag si Anna sa hotdog scene."

Jake turned serious as he recalled, "I did it in my last Cinemalaya entry.

"That's my trademark. Every time I do a Cinemalaya, I'll always have a masturbation scene."

Before doing the Cinemalaya 2017 entry Requited, Jake was part of the 2013 entry Nuwebe.

Was this masturbation scene originally included in the script?

"Yeah, ganun talaga ang mangyayari."

He explained why his character Matt pleasured himself: "He's sexually frustrated.

"In this scenario, he didn't have any power in him left. Wala na siyang power at all.

"He tried to be bitter and justify certain things but mahal pa rin niya ang tao.

"Umaasa pa rin siya bumalik siya pero wala, may boyfriend na, e.

"There are certain situations na maliit na bagay pero you hold on thinking na may duduktungan yun pero wala na."

Was it awkward for him shooting this sensitive scene?

"The masturbation scene, I was just by myself.

"It was just me, the cameraman and my director," he recalled.

Jake admitted that is is more difficult for him to shoot a masturbation scene compared to a love scene.

"It's not the first time that I've done it. It is harder to do than a love scene.

"I'll you the truth.

"At least with a love scene, you have someone to do it with.

"With a masturbation sequence, it's a little bit difficult," he said with a laugh.

Will he still accept sensitive scenes like this in the future?

Jake declared, "I don't limit myself in anything when it comes to acting.

"Who knows what kind of requirement or roles will come to me.

"I don't limit myself when it comes to art."
