Die Beautiful leads winners of 35th Luna Awards 2017

Chai Fonacier (left) and Christian Bables are among the winners honored at the 35th Luna Awards held last August 26, 2017. 


The Film Academy of the Philippines unveiled the winners of the 35th Luna Awards during its awarding ceremony held last August 26 at Resorts World Manila.

Die Beautiful won five awards in the 2017 Luna Awards, including Best Picture. The 2016 Metro Manila Film Fest entry also bagged the Best Director trophy for Jun Robles Lana, Best Supporting Actor for Christian Bables, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing.

In the Best Actress category, Hasmine Killip took the Luna Award for playing a homeless mother in Pamilya Ordinaryo. Aside from winning the same award in Cinemalaya 2016 and the Gawad Urian, she also earned an international Best Actress trophy in the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

Bembol Roco won the Best Actor plum for plating a patriarch in Pauwi Na.

Chai Fonacier earned the Best Supporting Actress award for portraying a transman in Patay na si Jesus.

Fernando Poe Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award: Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista
Manuel de Leon Award for Exemplary Achievements: production designer Des Bautista
Lamberto Avellana Memorial (posthumous) Award: director Mario O’Hara, actress Lolita Rodriguez and Bibsy Carballo
Awards of Appreciation for director Lav Diaz and actress Charo Santos-Concio
