Decades later, the fierce rivalry between Noranians and Vilmanians is still in place.

They showed their support by shouting for their idols during the awards night of the 33rd Star Awards for Movies 2017. The two groups supporting Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos tried to beat each other in terms of loudness and volume.

However, it ended well for both camps when Nora and Vilma tied for Best Actress during the Gabi ng Parangal held by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) at Resorts World Manila.

The Best Actor award went to Daniel Padilla for the movie Barcelona: A Love Untold. He paid tribute to his leading lady Kathryn Bernardo who was not present last night, September 3.

"Kumbaga sa boxing, si Kathryn ang sparring partner ko para marating ang ganitong tagumpay," said Daniel, who formed one half of the popular KathNiel love team.

"Hindi ibig sabihin ng award na ito na magaling ako. Ibig sabihin nito na marami pa akong kakaining bigas para galingan ko pa."

The ABS-CBN actor also accepted the trophy last night for Movie Love Team of the Year.

Daniel said, "In behalf of Kathryn, tinatanggap ko ang award na ito. Salamat sa KathNiel fans na patuloy na sumusuporta sa amin six years na."

The KathNiel love team was able to beat: Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards (Imagine You And Me), Nadine Lustre and James Reid (This Time), Julia Barretto and Ronnie Alonte (Vince And Kath And James), Julia and Joshua Garcia (Vince And Kath And James), Jodi Sta. Maria and Ian Veneracion (Achy Breaky Heart), as well as Jodi and Richard Yap (Achy Breaky Heart).

When Joshua Garcia accepted his trophy as New Movie Actor of the Year, he told the crowd that this is his first acting award. "Magsisilbi itong inspirasyon para lalong pagbutihan ko ang aking pag-arte," said the Kapamilya actor.

Serving as the hosts that night were Aljur Abrenica, Yassi Pressman, Daniel Matsunaga, Alex Gonzaga, and Robi Domingo.

Yassi pointed out that this event was the first time that she shared a stage with Aljur, who recently transferred to ABS-CBN after being with GMA-7 for several years.

She took this opportunity to formally welcome him to the ABS-CBN primetime series Ang Probinsyano. Aljur responded by saying, "Salamat at tinuring niyo akong pamilya sa Ang Probinsyano. Parang pamilya ang turingan," observed the former GMA-7 actor who just transferred last August 2.
