Toni Gonzaga cracked jokes when she learned that producer Neil Arce's favorite scene in their upcoming movie, Last Night, is the bathtub scene.
“Oh, may bathtub scene kami, sorry,” quipped Toni during the digital conference of the movie on Sunday, September 17.
The ABS-CBN actress also jested, “Sensual na kami ngayon. Sexy star na ako.
“After kong manganak, wala na akong pakialam.”
She continued to make funny comments when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked her to briefly describe the scene.
Wala akong shorts, e.”
She turned to director Joyce Bernal who was seated near her: “Bakit?”
Direk Joyce answered with a laugh.
Kidding aside, Toni said she really made it a point to do the movie Last Night with Piolo Pascual.
She recalled, “Noong January of this year, nag-usap kami ni Tita Malou [Santos, Star Cinema managing director] sa office niya.
“I remember sinabi niya, 'Siguro wala muna kaming maibibigay na script for you and PJ.
“Wala naman kaming nakalinyang project together.
“This year, wala talagang sinabi na magkakatrabaho kami. Hindi talaga sinabi yun.
“We were looking at other scripts, 'tapos may iba pang prinesent na mga story.
“Until I finally read the script, and then I got a call from PJ [Piolo].
“Parang everything fell into place na ganun talaga.
“Parang meant to be na ito yung gagawin naming dalawa.”
BELIEVING THE STORY. Toni almost missed doing this reunion project with Piolo, which will be shown in cinemas on September 27.
“May instances talaga na hindi nagkakatugma, na hindi ko siya magagawa.
“But I really fought for the character. Gusto ko kasi talaga yung character ni Carmina,” she said.
Toni admitted that she and Piolo liked the story pitched by former lovers Bela Padilla and Neil Arce. Both conceptualized the plot, while Bela wrote the script.
“We believe in the material, in our director, in our producers," said Toni.
“We believe in the whole team. It's a collaboration of brilliant minds.
“I remember dapat last minute hindi ko siya magagawa.
“Sinabi ko talaga na I really wanna do this.
“Nilaban ko talaga. Sabi ko, 'Gusto ko talaga 'tong script na 'to.'”
