Jericho Rosales has finally given the reason why he backed out of his 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Almost Is Not Enough.
In the MMFF entry, Jericho was supposed to be paired again with Jennylyn Mercado, his leading lady in the 2015 MMFF Best Picture Walang Forever.
The ABS-CBN actor said that he was just not ready to take on the project, especially after the death of his father last March 2017.
Before Jericho left the film's production, he apologized to his co-star Jennylyn, director Dan Villegas, and producer Atty. Joji Alonso.
The 38-year-old actor admitted that he still wants to work with Jennylyn in the future.
"I actually apologized to Direk Dan, I love Dan, I love Jen.
"I saw Jen yesterday, and briefly I said pasensya na. Naintindihan naman nila.
"I want to apologize, of course, to everyone who thought na magkakasama kami ni Jen. It's not the end, hindi pa naman huli ang lahat.
"Personally, gusto ko pang makatrabaho si Jen. She's one of the best actresses na nakatrabaho ko, na masarap kasama.
"But I wish them all the best, kay Atty. Joji, of course.
"The entire project is going to be great, it's just that hindi ko lang nakita yung sarili ko sa sitwasyon na yun ngayon."
Going back to his decision of not pushing through with the project, Jericho said that he would rather leave the film's production rather than cause a problem on the set.
"So I'd rather be honest than pretend na okay ako."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters spoke to Jericho during the media announcement of his new show, Love Will Lead You Back, at 9501 Restaurant, ABS-CBN.
In August 2017, there was talk that Jericho had already backed out of the movie.
At that time, Jericho was still shooting his movie with Erich Gonzales and Jasmine Curtis-Smith.
Derek Ramsay, who was first paired with Jennylyn in English Only, Please (2015), has been chosen as Jericho's replacement.
