Aga Muhlach hopes to be reunited with his Seven Sundays co-stars for a sitcom to be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. Their film will open in cinemas on October 11, 2017.

Aga Muhlach was candid about admitting why he has not appeared on the big screen in the past six years.

The 48-year-old actor did not mince words when he said he had turned down many offers the past years where he would have been the lead star.

"It's my being overweight," Aga said.

Aga met the entertainment media, including PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), during the October 8 press conference of the film, Seven Sundays, held at the ABS-CBN compound.

"I struggled for how many years losing weight dahil nagpahinga talaga ako.

"Every year na may nag-ooffer sa 'kin ng love story, parang hindi ko kaya.

"Hindi ko kaya na lumabas na leading man na ganitong itsura ko, dahil hindi ko gagawin yun."

Now Aga has agreed to be part of the Star Cinema film, Seven Sundays, to directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Aga has siblings here, played by Dingdong Dantes, Cristine Reyes, and Enrique Gil. The family's patriarch is played by veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez.

The former matinee idol was asked why he agreed to accept the ensemble family drama when he is better known as top-billing blockbuster romance movies in his last movies.

Aga said, "When the script was offered sa akin, sinabi sa akin na 'You don't have to lose weight. You're okay.'

"But if you want to diet along the way, then go ahead, but the character doesn't ask for that.

"Of course, nag-start naman ako mag-dyeta rin, but ako magda-diet ako if I'm pushed against the wall.

"If you really watch the movie, makikita mo talaga, maputing buhok, malaki ang tiyan. Parang napag-iwanan talaga."

In the film, Donita Rose is cast as the wife of Aga's character.

Aga described her role, "Si Donita was pregnant, buntis siya sa pelikula. May tatlo na kaming anak at pang-apat na 'yan.

"I gave up everything just to take care of my family and our business."

In the film, their family business is running a grocery store.

SITCOM AS TV COMEBACK? Following the chemistry between him and his co-stars in Seven Sundays, Aga hopes they could be reunited in a TV show.

Aga was last seen on television via the 2010 ABS-CBN show Malay Mo Ma-Develop.

"Sana nga magka-sitcom kami. Gagawin na yata," said Aga. "Si Direk Cathy magdi-direk kasi gusto niya sitcom."

Turning to GMA-7 star Dingdong Dantes, Aga prodded, "Dong, pwede ka ba? Paalam mo."

Aga, Cristine, and Enrique are all Kapamilya, while Dingdong is a Kapuso.

Dingdong laughed, saying, "Ikaw na bahala, Kuya."

Speaking of comebacks, Aga revealed the conditions that would make him agree to do a teleserye in the future.

"Direk, ngayon na nakasama kita, gagawa ako ng teleserye, ikaw ang director," declared Aga.

"Gusto ko tulad ni Enrique, sa Baguio, para hindi mainit."

Aga was referring to Enrique's teleserye with Liza Soberano, Forevermore, which was shot in Baguio and other parts of the Mt. Province.

Asked her reaction to this, Direk Cathy responded, "Si Aga Muhlach 'yan. Oo-oo ako, pero sana umabot siya kasi dalawang taon na lang ako."

Aga chided her, "Kakabalik ko lang after six years, ikaw naman ang aalis.

"Trabaho muna tayo ng isang teleserye. O kaya isang sitcom.

"Ang gusto niyang gawin sitcom."

During the presscon, Direk Cathy revealed that she plans to retire within the next two years.
