Aga Muhlach divulged that there's a possibility that his long-awaited reunion movie with Lea Salonga will happen in 2018.
Should this push through, this will be the third time Aga and Lea will work together.
They first teamed up in Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal in 1992, and they were paired again in the 1995 film Sana Maulit Muli.
Both movies did well at the box-office and their onscreen partnership gained a following.
Since Lea, 46, and Aga, 48, started being active in showbiz again, they've often been asked if they would do a third movie.
Though both are optimistic the movie will happen, they have yet to confirm when this will happen.
“We’ll make it happen, Lea and I will make it happen,” said the former matinee idol at the bloggers’ conference last October 5 to promote his upcoming movie, Seven Sundays.
Aga cited their schedules and respective projects as hindrances.
“Like, Lea’s out of the country now. Babalik siya June [next year]. Wala na [for this year].
“I’m filming November,” said Aga, who did not reveal his new leading lady for this upcoming movie.
“I have another film I’m starting March .
“So, papa'no yon?
“Pwedeng July. Pwede ding August,” he added, providing a glimmer of hope for fans of the Aga-Lea love team.
What's certain is that the actor is intent on completing another movie with Lea for their loyal fans.
“We owe it to the public also. I’d really like to do a movie with Lea.
“Ilang years na naming pinaplano ‘yan. Ilang years na ‘yan. Di natutuloy.
“If it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen.
“I’d love to work with her again.”
When Aga appeared as a guest in the October 9 episode of Magandang Buhay, he was asked about the possibility of working anew with Lea.
The actor asked Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos, who happened to be at the studio of the ABS-CBN morning talk show, to respond to the question.
The executive said that the reunion will happen “soon.”
WILLING TO WORK WITH DAYANARA. During Aga's October 5 blog con, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to ask Aga if he was willing to do a project with ex-girlfriend Danayara Torres, 42.
“Yeah. I mean, parang masaya, gagawa kami ng pelikula.
“Let’s see, wala naman offer sa 'kin. Pag meron, di ba, bakit hindi?" replied the actor.
Dayanara came to the Philippines for the 1994 Miss Universe Pageant since she was the outgoing titleholder.
The Puerto Rican beauty became one of the original hosts of the ABS-CBN variety show ASAP and was dubbed "The Dancing Queen."
The 1993 Miss Universe also did a movie with Aga in 1995, the blockbuster hit Basta’t Kasama Kita.
She and Aga had a five-year relationship that ended in 1998.
Dayanara left the country and went to the United States. She married American singer Marc Anthony in 2000. They had two sons and divorced in 2004.
Aga married Charlene Gonzalez in 2001. They are now parents to twins Atasha and Andres.
Dayanara returned to the Philippines in January 2017 to serve as one of the judges in pre-pageant events of Miss Universe.
During her guest appearance on ANC’s Headstart with Karen Davila, Dayanara was asked if she was willing to team up again with Aga.
“That would be a great idea,” she replied.
