Coco Martin admits that being street-smart is a big advantage for him now that he is starring in action projects.

The ABS-CBN star held a presscon at the SMX Convention Center yesterday, October 28, to launch the mobile game version of Ang Panday. This action-fantasy movie is his entry to the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival.

It was revealed that Coco was very hands on in the development of this gaming app that is now available for Android phones.

Did he ever get into fights when he was younger?

"Hasang-hasa," said Coco with a laugh.

In fact, Coco admitted that he found it even more difficult to do staged fight scenes.

His background has helped Coco come up with realistic scenarios for his projects.

"Katulad ng fight scenes sa Ang Panday, ako nakaisip ng ideas na dito gusto ko na may balisong ako, may four fingers ako.

"Kasi noong araw, pumapasok ako sa school, lagi akong may dalang balisong.

"Ganun kasi sa amin, dapat lagi kang ready."

The Ang Probinsyano lead actor said he did take up boxing and judo in the past.

In 2013, Coco brought life to a superhero in the ABS-CBN fantaserye Juan Dela Cruz.

Did he think about doing a movie version of Juan Dela Cruz?

"Honestly, after kong gawin yung Juan Dela Cruz na soap opera, before pa ko mag-movie with Vice Ganda, yun po sana ang gagawin ko, yung Juan Dela Cruz. Kaso hindi natuloy.

"After nun, gusto ko nang gawin yung Panday."

Coco, who serves as the director of the MMFF 2017 entry Ang Panday, pointed out the differences between his two projects.

"Ang Probinsyano kasi realistic action.

"Ang Panday naman action-fantasy. Pag pinanood mo siya, may action, fantasy, romance, comedy, saka drama."
