One of the most awaited events during the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the Parade of Stars, a celebration of the eight official movie entries featuring their respective floats and movie stars.
This year, expect to see some changes when the Parade of Stars kicks off on December 23, Saturday, at 2 p.m.
The Parade of Stars will be held in Muntinlupa City for the first time in the 43-year-old history of the annual film fest.
According to the website of the City Government of Muntinlupa, this will be part of the city’s Centennial Celebration Culminating Activities.
The parade will start at Muntinlupa Sports Center, Tunasan, after which it will turn right at Buendia Street, straight to Centennial Avenue. It will then make a right to National Road, Tunasan, leading to the Alabang Viaduct, left to Montillano St. Ext., then left to Corporate Ave., and right to Bridgeway.
The MMFF 2017 Parade of Stars will end at Filinvest City Event Grounds, Alabang.
This is the first time that the Parade of Stars is being held outside of Manila.
MMFF, through its official Facebook page, also announced to the public its rules for safety to be strictly imposed during the said event.
Firearms, explosives, illegal drugs, intoxicating liquor, and bladed weapons are prohibited, as well as metallic objects such as belt buckles and metal eating utensils. Water canisters are not allowed.
It also reminds the public that making bomb jokes is punishable by law.
Children below four feet in height, pregnant women, and persons in wheelchairs or cranes will not be allowed.
MMFF 2017 officially opens on December 25 with the following official movie entries: All of You, Deadma Walking, Haunted Forest, Larawan, Meant to Beh, Ang Panday, Siargao, and Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad.
UPDATE: The Muntinlupa Local Government has announced that it will close the National Highway from Susana Heights to Alabang Viaduct this Saturday, December 23, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM due to the MMFF 2017 Parade of Stars.
Expect heavy traffic.
