We lost almost a third of our theaters on the 1st day but miraculously we are getting more people per theater on the 2nd day."

Sabi niya sa kanyang Facebook post kahapon din, “For 2 days na, I've not gotten tired reading comment after comment, rave after rave review for Ang Larawan by those who have gone to see it in the theaters.

"My heart overflows with gratitude. THANK YOU!

"We always knew we were up against the giants. Some have even said our film is only for the cultured, the educated, the older set, etc. "Hindi yan pang masa", I was told again and again.

"And yet, I'm pleasantly surprised that this film is touching audiences of all ages and walks of life. In many theaters all over the country, people burst into applause at the end.

"And the most common comment is that this film has moved them to tears - not just out of sadness but pride that we as Filipinos have a work of art such as this film that we can be proud of.

"As the Barbra Streisand song goes, SOME GOOD THINGS NEVER LAST. While it is enjoying sold out screenings in major theaters, it is not being shown in many cinemas nationwide. We also have no guarantee until when it will still be shown at its current locations.

"So if you want to support what is good, what is quality and worthwhile, let your voice be heard. Fight the good fight with us.

"CONTRA MUNDUM (Defy the world!) is the battlecry of the lead characters, Candida and Paula. WATCH ANG LARAWAN NOW to keep it alive in the theaters! #ShowLarawanSomeLove."

(Defy the world!).

“MORE THAN A CHRISTMAS GIFT."

Waking up to such wonderful news about ‘Ang Larawan’ was more than a Christmas gift. Please let’s spread the word more and keep ‘Ang Larawan’ in cinemas.

"Thank you to everyone who watched and supported our movie. It is a masterpiece, a classic, created by geniuses, our national artists. I am so ecstatic that we are finally presenting this to the world. Including the book and its soundtrack.

"Something that will enrich us, educate us in so many ways not just culturally but artistically too.

"I am currently in Dubai (which is my layover) waiting for the next flight home. I got stranded here due to delays caused by bad weather.

"I was supposed to have arrived on the evening of the 25th just in time for Christmas night and also to see the movie on the 26th (second day screening). But yesterday upon our arrival in Dubai, we’ve been told that the next available flight will get us to Manila on the morning of the 27th.

"Despite Emirates airlines’ efforts to make our stay as comfortable as possible, I felt helpless and could do nothing but resign to the fact that this is beyond my control and all I can do now is wait. I can’t help but think that there is this force that’s stopping me to get there and enjoy our labour of love, my first movie ever and a very important one at that.

"I had missed 3 premieres and it breaks my heart to have missed the day of the float (which would’ve been an amazing experience), couldn’t help with any of the promos due to prior engagements, missed Xmas in Manila altogether with my family.

"The one thing I wanted to see especially was my parents reaction whilst experiencing the movie on a big screen. My mother messaged me telling me her chest was about to explode whilst watching the movie. She cried all the way and she couldn’t help it.

"Those were the moments I didn’t want to miss. Today, I am flying out of Dubai. I am eager to watch Ang Larawan and to thank you all for the messages of encouragement that got me through the last few days. I am excited beyond belief to get there and experience the buzz that ‘Ang Larawan’ has created, to witness what it’s like to be part of such an important festival. See you soon, Manila!”

Saad niya sa kanyang tweet kahapon, “So, why is #Larawan not showing in more theaters? Isn’t this a film festival? Sigh. Nakakalungkot naman. Hindi nakakagulat, which makes it even more sad.”

Saad ni maestro Ryan, “Ang Larawan lost the following cinemas to better performing films at the tills. Just saying. Thanks to everyone who supported the film. Meron pa rin namang ibang sinehan. Try to catch it!”
