My Perfect You, the first movie of Gerald Anderson and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, has earned P10 million on its opening day.
This was revealed by Star Cinema through its Instagram account earlier today, March 15.
This movie directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina opened in cinemas on Wednesday, March 14.
Pia previously admitted that she felt like she had to prove herself again in her first movie with Gerald.
“May pressure kasi ako 'to, e. Parang this time, I really have to prove that I deserve this role, that I deserve to be a leading lady almost right away, and that I can do the job," the beauty queen told select entertainment reporters and bloggers in an interview held last Sunday, March 11.
Pia hopes that with her portrayal of Abi in the movie, people will see another side of her aside from being a beauty queen.
“Medyo may kauting pressure na kailangan ko talagang galingan.
“Kasi, I didn't want people to think na the reason why she's given this role or project is because she won Miss Universe.
“I wanted to show them a different side of me that they've never seen before.
“And I wanted to prove that I could do it.
“Gusto ko kapag pinanood nila 'yan, hindi yung Pia Wurtzbach noong coronation night yung makikita nila, hindi yung naka-blue na gown.
“Gusto ko yung makikita nila yung ibang tao na kapag pinanood nila, makakalimutan nila yung Pia, basta si Abi lang ang nakikita nila.”
Aside from the pressure of proving herself as an actress, Pia was also challenged by the setting of My Perfect You, which was shot in Coto Mines, Masinloc, Zambales.
Pia pointed out, “Sa location pa lang, the location was about seven to eight hours away [from Manila].
“Pagdating namin sa Zambales, may rough road pa kami ng mga two hours or more.
“Then, yung location namin talagang abandoned na mga cottage, walang signal sa lugar, walang kuryente, batuhan talaga.
“'Tapos binubuhat ang mga gamit kapag palipat-lipat... we really maximized the location.
“Halos lahat ng eksena nasa labas, makikita mo, napakaganda.
“Those were the challenges. Yung init sa tanghali, napakainit. Sa gabi naman, napakalamig, pero kaya naman.”
Good thing Pia is always game for anything, so these issues didn't bother her much during their shoot.
Pia added, “Abi is the energy of the movie. She is the light. She is the ball of sunshine.
“I had to sustain that kind of energy throughout the whole movie.
“That was also the challenge for me, given the location namin and the long working hours.
“Also the fact that I've never done a role like this.
“Actually, konti pa lang naman talaga yung experience ko. I was learning as I went along.”
BITTERSWEET FEELING. The 28-year-old Kapamilya actress said about her first starring movie, “Definitely, I have to say, I had a lot of fun doing this movie, very memorable.
“I can say that it's one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had in showbiz.”
In fact, Pia considers this as equally memorable as her Miss Universe experience in 2015.
“I forgot to mention this in the last presscon natin, I even told Gerald this...
“Mga ilang days na kaming nagsu-shoot, nakausap ko siya, sabi ko, 'I really want this to work. I've never been so excited about something since Miss Universe.'
“So the last time I was this excited was noong lalaban ako sa Miss U.
“Ang taas nung feeling na 'yon, e.
“'Tapos nung after kong manalo, naghahanap ako ng something that's exciting.
“Siyempre, nandoon yung traveling, lahat-lahat, pero hinahanap-hanap ko siya.
“Hindi ko siya mahanap until now.
“Doon ko na-feel na I'm back to something that I really want to do.
“The feeling is familiar when I was competing.”
Now that their rom-com is being shown in cinemas, Pia said, “Bittersweet yung feeling na magso-showing na kasi ibig sabihin tapos na yung shooting namin, pero na-enjoy ko.
“Weird nga, e, masaya ako na magso-showing na kasi makikita na ng lahat pero parang... nag-enjoy kasi ako, so mixed feelings talaga siya.”
