Pinoy costume designers take the spotlight in Black Panther

Hollywood-based Filipino costume designers Anthony Fuentebella (in photo) and Anthony Francisco designed the costumes for the main characters in the Marvel movie, Black Panther. Francisco said that he drew inspiration from Filipino tribal decor for most of his costume designs for the blockbuster flick.

Kabahagi ng malaking tagumpay ng Marvel movie na Black Panther sa worldwide box-office ang dalawang Pinoy na naging costume designers ng ilang characters sa naturang pelikula.

Ito ay sina Rodney Fuentebella at Anthony Francisco.

Kinabibiliban ang talento ng Pinoy lalo na sa pag-design ng mga costumes at pati na sa mga visual illustrations.

Kaya hindi nakakapagtaka na ma-penetrate nila ang malalaking film studios ng Hollywood tulad ng Marvel Studios.

RODNEY FUENTEBELLA. Ang Filipino-American na si Rodney Fuentebella ang nag-design ng costumes ng mga pangunahing characters sa Black Panther na sina Chadwick Boseman as King T’Chaka, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue.

Nagtatrabaho si Rodney bilang senior visual development illustrator ng Marvel Studios.

Nakapag-create na siya ng key-art illustrations and character designs para sa ibang Marvel projects tulad sa Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers: Age of Ultron at sa TV series na Agent Carter.

Pinanganak si Rodney sa Pilipinas pero lumaki ito sa San Francisco, California.

ANTHONY FRANCISCO. Kasama ni Rodney sa kanyang design team ang isa ring Pinoy na si Anthony Francisco na nag-design naman ng mga costumes ng warrior women ni Dora Milaje na pinamunuan ni Danai Gurira as Okaye.

Ang tribal décor na makikita sa costume artifacts ng mga Filipino tribes tulad ng mga Igorot ang naging inspirasyon ni Anthony.

Nakapag-create na si Anthony ng key-art illustrations and character designs para sa ibang Marvel projects tulad sa Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Si Anthony naman ay pinanganak sa Quezon City at lumipat at tumira sa Los Angeles, California noong teenager siya.

Nag-aral siya ng Architecture at Fine Arts sa University of Santo Tomas.

Si Anthony ang nag-design kay Baby Groot sa Guardians of the Galaxy at kay Loki sa ikatlong Thor movie.
