ABS-CBN actor Paulo Avelino has finished shooting his scenes for the period film Goyo that depicts the story of national hero Gregorio del Pilar.

This film is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed and blockbuster movie Heneral Luna that starred John Arcilla.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press interviewed Paulo about the challenges he endured while filming the movie.

The 29-year-old actor said he had to read a lot and conduct research in order to portray the lead character in this film directed by Jerrold Tarog and produced by TBA Studios (Tuko Film Productions, Buchi Boy Entertainment, and Artikulo Uno Productions).

Paulo narrated during his March 6 press launch for Berocca at Early Night in Bonifacio Global City, "I had a lot of questions, so Direk Jerrold made me a lot of reading materials. When I say reading materials, it's photocopies of books."

Last February 14, TBA Studios gave a sneak preview of what moviegoers can expect on the sequel.

The two-minute behind-the-scenes video featured an underwater scene that Paulo considers as one of the hardest scenes he had to do for the period film.

He told the press, "Mahirap dahil kailangan mong lumubog sa ilalim at mag-panic at siyempre, like sa triathlon...

"Gumagalaw ka sa ilalim ng tubig at lumulubog ka, medyo mahirap kasi wala kang hangin at malayo yung travel paangat.

"Yun lang yung tricky part, buhay pa naman ako so..."

Does he have any fear of going underwater?

The Star Magic talent answered, "Wala! I love being in the water kahit planggana nga lang na may tubig, masaya na ako."

Paulo added, "Without moving, or without doing something underwater, I can probably hold my breath for like a minute and thirty to two."

"Medyo mahaba rin naman, pero when you panic kasi, yun yung nire-require ng eksena, parang mahirap rin."

Aside from this, moving from one location to another is probably the most challenging part, not just for him but for the whole cast and crew of the Goyo.

He said, "Actually yung location lang namin na going up in the mountains, mahirap na kasi laging nababalaho 'yong mga sasakyan, 4x4 lang 'yong nakakaangat tapos pagdating sa taas inuulan pa kami."

Paulo continued, "Different locations but basically all over Luzon, Meron sa Ilocos, Tarlac, Zambales, Batangas... madami rin."
